Iran Taunts Obama with Uranium Enrichment Program PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Tue, Feb 9, 2010, 10:11 AM
Ahmadinejad Taunts.jpgWord is geting out that Barack Obama is re-incarnating the presidency of Jimmy Carter. Yesterday, the Dallas Blog posted a story from a Beijing economist, Tan Yaling, explaining that China shouldn't budge on the value of the 'yuan' Chinese currency, because Obama poses no threat to his so-called enemies. He was ridiculed for doing nothing when North Korea, Venezuela and Syria confront the U.S. Apparently, Iran also got the message. Ms. Tan even suggested that China continue selling weapons to countries strongly opposed to the U.S.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, "Iran began enriching uranium to a higher level on Tuesday over the vociferous objections of the U.S. and its allies who fear the process could eventually be used to give the Islamic Republic nuclear weapons.

Even before the news became public, Robert Gates, the U.S. secretary of defense, argued that the United Nations should initiate new sanctions on Iran in "weeks, not months" as disclosed by his spokesman Tuesday.

On Monday, the U.S. and France said that Iran's actions left no alternative but to push stronger for a fourth set of U.N. Security Council sanctions to reprimand Iran's nuclear defiance. Nevertheless, Russia has close ties with Iran and will oppose new sanctions, yet hinted at coming closer to Washington's position, claiming the new enrichment plans prove the suspicions about Iran's intentions have been well-founded.

According to the Chronicle, "Iranian state television said that the process began in the presence of inspectors from the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency. Uranium has to be enriched to fuel nuclear power plants and Iran needs the 20 percent enriched fuel for a research reactor producing medical isotopes."

Nonetheless, enriching the uranium to 90 percent, creates the material for nuclear weapons that many nations are terrified Iran is seeking. Iran denies the allegations.

The world knows that BHO is no threat to them. He will probably chastise Israel when they make a dirt parking lot out of Iran.

I am reminded of the words of Winston Churchill, on another occasion:

"This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time."

Obama has no idea what he is doing. That should be clear to everyone.

May I quote Winston again, since it believe it to be as applicable to this situation as his original quote was to that.

"We really must not waste time, after all this long Debate, upon the difference between the positions reached at Berchtesgaden, at Godesberg and at Munich. They can be very simply epitomised, if the House will permit me to vary the metaphor. £1 was demanded at the pistol's point. When it was given, £2 were demanded at the pistol's point. Finally, the dictator consented to take £1 17s. 6d. and the rest in promises of good will for the future."
