U.S. President Barack Obama, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, wants to make the Air force Academy more inclusive for people practicing occult pagan witchcraft. Hence, he's willing to increrase the federal government's record-breaking debt to fund a chapel that will add a circle to be utilized as a worship area for so-called "Earth-centered religions, during a dedication ceremony" that is tentatively scheduled for March 10.
The official U.S. Air Force Academy website reports that, "the circle, located atop the hil overlooking the Cadet Chapel and Visitor Center, will be the latest addition to a collection of worship areas that includes Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist sacred spaces." Tech. Sgt. Brandon Longcrier, NCO leading the Academy's Astronautic's laboratories, coordinated with the chapel to establish the official worship 'circle' for both cadets and other service members in the Colorado Springs region who practice Earth-centered religion. He said, "feel free to check the site out, but treat it as you would any other religious structure." According to the Air Force Academy, "the stones that now form the inner and outer rings of the circle once sat near the Visitor Center, where the chance of erosion made the rocks a safety hazard. The 10th Civil Engineers Squadron moved the rocks to the top of the hill in spring and early summer. Once finished, the circle will also include materials from a smaller circle that Sergeant Longcrier briefly set up in Jacks Valley." He said, "we used the (Jacks Valley) circle during Basic Cadet Training, and it was great." Nevertheless, the new circle provides significant advantages. He explained, "the circle that we secured in December is much bigger, better and closer to the cadet area. This will allow cadets to use the circle anytime they feel the need." written by Mike , February 02, 2010 The headline is mis-leading. The AF Academy is not "promoting" anything. They are "accommodating" as they are required to do by law. The Constitution protects ALL religions, whether or not you agree and/or approve. If the military provides facilities for one religion, they must provide facilities for all religions. That is the right thing to do.

written by BryonMorrigan , February 02, 2010 Ah, the uneducated snide remarks of Christian Supremacists. Yeah, 'cause having a few Army engineers move some stones is certainly equivalent to actually erecting a frigging CHURCH using taxpayer money. When I was a proudly serving active-duty soldier, I had to hide my faith from small-minded bigots. It's disgusting that intolerant filth breathe the same air as I do. Not supporting equal treatment for our troops, is not "supporting our troops." Move to Iran if you want to live in a theocracy dominated by one religion.

written by Patti Wigington , February 02, 2010 I'll echo what Mike said - this isn't about anyone getting special treatment, it's about people who follow earth-based religions getting EQUAL treatment. A more important issue might be: Why on earth is there a picture of Christopher Lee as Saruman accompanying this article? Were there no Real Pagans available for a photo op?

written by Shadrach , February 02, 2010 Although one could argue that religious toleration in Christendom goes back to 1568 the Hungarian Edict of Turda, realistically, the Separation of church and state as we know it today was an American Christian development, perfected in the Colony of Rhode Island by Roger Willimas by he and his fellow Baptists who had been kicked out of Puritan Massachusetts. It was quickly adopted by several colonies. Beyond any doubt, the reason why the Church in America is so strong, and the Church in Europe so weak, is that in America, your faith is not a subset of your patriotism. Faith in America is based on heart-held beliefs, not racial identity or national birthright. As a former Christian military Officer fighting to defend the American value of freedom of religion, you must accommodate any recognized religion to the extent consistent with military functionality. The duty of proclaiming Christ belongs to the Church, not to the Air Force. However anti-Christian Wicca or earth worship might be, their blood is no less American than mine, and they have as much right to die for their country as I did.

written by rufuslevin , February 03, 2010 What happened to the military academies, which are paid educations for American military personnel, hired to protect America with military might, that they are TODAY so worried about political correctness? What happened to kids in military academies worrying about academics, physical fitness, and mental health..that now they are so fixated upon political correctness and accomodating religions. They are there to prepare to do war with people of all religions, not there to learn or practice religions. If they want to go to church, or go into the woods and beat drums, then let them go into town and join with others of like spiritural or cultural or whatever communities. If the "pagans" want to worship nature...then seems like building ANYTHING that disturbs NATURAL ground would be against whatever claptrap they want attention and money from the taxpayers to accomodate. Folks, we are either paying for soldiers educations, or we are paying for pansies to get a college degree. Which is it. This crud has to stop somewhere. Already we have military commanders and a secretary of Defense that is afraid to call muslim terrorists just that, and to call a WAR just some isolated man made conflicts. GET REAL....the world is not an academic sociological debate....STUFF is happening to our nation....and the anti-war make love not peace feminist movement and civil rights movements are OVER....so stop already...grow up...the 1970s were social failures, and we are paying the penalty for all of that Baby Boomer claptrap rebellion today. And I was there too. So grow up everyone.

written by MM , February 04, 2010 Another outrage! Religious liberty does NOT extend to wiccans and pagans. “Infidels and pagans were banished from the halls of justice as unworthy of credit.” [Life and letters of Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, Vol. II 1851, pp. 8-9.] Read Madison, Franklin, etc. and you'll find no religious rights to these wack-job groups. May the Muslims who believe in the one true God, be given divine power to blast the US pagan pilots from the skies.

written by MichaelMN , February 04, 2010 Regarding the quote from Justice Story, here's a bit more "until a comparatively recent period, infidels and pagans were banished from the halls of justice, as unworthy of credit... Thus, justice was debased" This was not a cry against the rights of "infidels and pagans" but for them, saying justice was debased when they had not given rights in civil courts. It amazes me how some people will corrupt the words of others, in essence bearing false witness, when they try and take away the right of others.

written by SandyVA , February 07, 2010 rufuslevin: by your logic, therefore, the chapel at the AF Academy should not have been built, the chaplain corps should be disbanded, and no provisions made for individual religious practice of any kind. Is this really what you meant?

written by kat , February 07, 2010 yeah! a circle for the pagans! wow i bet that cost a lot in man hours and materials...

written by Draken T Runner , February 10, 2010 Hey "Shadrach"! If you had the brains to research anything before you make yourself look like the bigoted idiot you are, you would know that Wicca ISN'T "Anti-Christian". Wicca isn't anti-any other religion...it promotes that ALL religions are equally valid. Had you been a Chaplain, you would know that, and you would have had to assist in any Pagan Rites, by military law. It all breaks down to equality. MM-- you are almost as bad as "Shadrach", wishing harm against OUR TROOPS that are giving you the freedom to be an asshole and the only "whack-job" on this board. The Pope admitted almost four years ago on Halloween that "christianity has it's roots in Paganism..." when they found Pagan Graves in the Vatican City! So yeah, ALL religions are equally valid, moron.

written by Morgan , February 17, 2010 We are all created equal! We all bleed Red. The ones that don't want equality move to a country that tells you how to believe. Or if that is too hard? YOu can just take yourself out of the gene-pool! Like "Hard Harry" from Pump Up the Volume, I do not suppport Suicide, but if you so choose, it is a solution! Blessed Be friends and others! Merry we meet, merry we part, and merry we meet again! So Mote it Be! Morgan
