San Antonio GOP Win-Win Ideas on Health Care and Immigration Reforms PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Feb 1, 2010, 11:54 AM
Congress Reforms.jpgThe Dallas Blog was graciously invited by a few political operatives working in a San Antonio Congressional campaign to learn more about their ideas on immigration and health care reforms. Apparently, some Republicans in San Antonio want to distance themselves from Tea Party activists and extreme anti-immigration activists without getting embroiled in a public dispute. They want to work with these activists to fight against Democrats. Here are some of the interesting ideas for political reforms I heard over the weekend:

Health Care Reform: The problem with President Obama's healthcare legislation is that he's overhauling the health care industry without fixing the real structural problems, such as the high costs of health insurance premiums and medical care. Yet at the same time, the United States offers the best medical care in the world.

Some San Antonio GOP operatives propose that Congress should support tort reform, but they don't have faith that President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party will support this legislation because they get most of their political donations from wealthy trial lawyers.

Doctors, medical care providers and pharmaceuticals must charge exorbinant fees to fund their medical malpractice insurance premiums. Tort reform would drastically cuts the costs of medical care which would be passed on to the patients and insurance companies.

Increased competition and enacting anti-trust provisions against insurance companies can also reduce premiums. As insurance companies fight to get more customers, they must reduce what they charge to consumers and improve their services.

Immigration Reform: The U.S. Federal Government must do a better job of bringing immigrants into this country legally. Perhaps, there should be an "unlimited" supply of "work permits" for employers seeking to hire migrant workers on a temporary basis. The employer must assume all legal obligations and taxes for the immigrant workers, while they're under contract to work in this country.

An employer and migrant worker must work with the U.S. State Department to undergo a 24-72-hour screening process in which a criminal background check is conducted. The employer must take legal responsibility for the migrant worker if that person is charged with a crime in America and the employer must ensure that migrant workers return to their native countries when their contracts expire. But these work permits can be renewed anytime.

Once again the Dallas Blog reporter would like to thank the political operatives for discussing their ideas privately, as well as the hospitality of the San Antonio people.

I know that some of the best ideas come from Francisco Canseco that is running for the 23rd Congressional District in San Antonio, I'm sure he will win the primaries coming up March 2nd!..

Canseco isn't going to win. He`tried in the 28th district and couldn't win and then tried the 23rd in 2008 with $900k of his money and still couldn't win. All of the sudden he thinks he stands a chance, no way.
