Bob Barker believes that 'The Price is Right' for him to give a $5 million donation to an animal rights' terrorist organization. When Mr. Barker was informed by Paul Waton that for a mere $5 million that he could destroy the entire Japanese whaling industry, Barker responded, "let's get it on." Perhaps, the White House will place him on the terrorists' 'no-fly' list.
The Christian Science Monitor reports that, "Bob Barker made a fortune and became a popular figure in millions of American households thanks to his avuncular demeanor during his 35-year run on the U.S. gameshow 'The Price is Right.' But his warm smile and encouragement for contestants belied a more pugnacious side that has been revealed only in recent years." Playing himself in the film "Happy Gilmore," in 1996, Mr. Barker inflicted a bet-down on Adam Sandler's onxoious character. He joined the steroid-induced giants of the World Wrestling Entertainment last September to host 'The Price is Raw,' and forced Chris Jericho, a wrestler to flee in fear after warning him, "I might have to take you over my knee." Yet, all of that had been a warm-up for the real confrontation that Barker's terrorist boat, the Bob Barker, a 1,200-ton former whaler, participated in earlier this week. According to the Christian Science Monitor, "as Barker told the Associated Press, he met Paul Watson of the Sea Sheperd Conservation Society through mutual friends in the animal rights movement. Mr. Watson, who use aggressive, confrontational tactics with a rag-tag fleet of black-painted boats against Japanese whalers every year in the Southern Ocean, made the following pitch, according to Barker: 'He said he thought he could put the Japanese whaling fleet out of busines, if he had $5 million ... I said, 'I think you do have the skills to do that, and I have $5 million, so let's get it on.'" written by Guido , January 08, 2010 You know, if you throw the word "terrorist" around too much, it loses its meaning. Were people that confronted slavery terrorists? It hurt the slave business—put a lot of people out of work. Was Rosa Parks a terrorist? Was the bus boycott a terrorist act? Taking direct action against an outdated and immoral practice, especially when the majority of the world's countries and people agree, may seem like injustice to you, but just remember: they arrested Rosa Parks for breaking the law, too.

written by Kristin , January 08, 2010 I find it absurd that you are labelling Sea Shepherd as "Terrorists". What is more aggressive harpooning whales and killing where there is no need or trying to stop it?

written by you, sir, overreacted , January 08, 2010 Not a terrorist boat, and he's just supporting animal rights. good for him.

written by furrpiece , January 08, 2010 While I really enjoy whales, and hate to see them killed, Bob Barker is enabling terrorism against other human beings. This is just another abysmal failure by the UN. That Bob Barker is supporting murder of mariners, regardless of what they are hunting, is even more disappointing.

written by Antoni , January 08, 2010 The only way to make Japan sit up and take notice is hit them in the pocketbook. Asian's have a different outlook on living things, including people (i.e. WWII, The Japanese invasion of China). If we boycott Japanes products, we all can help. But are any of you willing to park your Toyota?

written by bob , January 08, 2010 It's illegal (against international law) for the Japanese to be whaling, period! I'm glad someone has the guts to try and enforce the law. And three cheers to Bob Barker!! Remember to have your pets spayed and neutered:-)

written by furrpiece , January 08, 2010 Bob, Using terrorism against lawbreakers is hardly legal or ethical. Whale lovers do not represent the law, and are not empowered by any government to use deadly force to enforce international conventions. This is a case where Japan needs to hold its own citizens accountable, and face huge fines if the violations continue.

written by Isaac Pollard , January 08, 2010 Every person that fought on the side of our fledgling nation against England in the American War for Independence could rightly be called a "terrorist" according to today's common usage of the word, especially those living in England at the time. The Boston Tea Party, which today's "teabaggers" are so fond of, was absolutely a terrorist operation. What would you call a group of people in another country that boarded a US cargo ship that was docked there and proceeded to dump all the cargo into the ocean? You call him a terrorist, I call him someone willing to take action to protect a group of individuals (in this case, defenseless animals) from violence being perpetrated upon them- illegally, I would point out. I believe the word "terrorist" probably comes from the fact that those people usually seek to inspire terror in the populace by seeking to harm civilians or "innocent bystanders." How illegal whalers are "innocent" is beyond me, and how people seeking to protect the true innocents (without resorting to violence) are deemed the "terrorists" is also beyond me. Bob Barker supports an organization dedicated to protecting individuals from illegal killing. Since when have "terrorists" been defined as people seeking to protect others, and with no aim of actually hurting anyone? On the contrary, it is those who seek to harm the defenseless individuals that are the terrorists, clearly. Isn't that how this term should be applied?

written by furrpiece , January 08, 2010 As an animal lover, I understand your passion. However, encouraging and funding Americans in acts of vigilantism against our ally, Japan, is not my idea of a good solution to the problem. We're talking using war materials and tactics against fishermen! If you want Japanese fishermen to stop violating international conventions (not law), then take it up with Japan. Vigilantes on the high seas are no better than pirates. Oh...dumping tea into a harbor is not terrorism. It's vandalism.

written by john649 , January 08, 2010 who ARE you??? you should learn what the word terrorist means. Nowadays anyone who does something we don't like is called a terrorist. pathetic article.
...
written by J.C. , January 08, 2010 The true "terrorists" are the whale poachers who cowardly hide behind the guise of doing "research". Hmnn, if they no longer could gain financial profit from selling the whale corpses, I somehow think the "research" would come to a sudden end. Government-sanctioned whale poaching in a whale sanctuary comes as close to being an act of eco-terrorism (i.e. terrorizing the ecosystem) as anything I've seen. And now deliberately ramming a tiny boat. What a bunch of unethical, violent thugs the whalers are.
...
written by Hart. , January 08, 2010 Sink the Japanese poachers. They are the terrorists, they are the ones taking lives. SSCS and Bob Barker have limitless compassion for life, and have devoted their lives to protecting it.

written by Paul Barnes , January 08, 2010 john649, There is no Tom McGregor. D Magazine's blog "Frontburner" revealed that Tom Pauken Jr. posts under the names Tom McGregor and furrpiece. This explains the ease with which he uses deception and distortion to further right-wing fringe views.

written by furrpiece , January 08, 2010 The American revolutionaries were called a great many things, but "terrorists" was not among them. The American colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain didn't terrorize anyone. They fought as revolutionaries against the British in uniforms (of sorts), under a commander commissioned by the colonists, and as an army of the American continent - no doubt the reason they were called the "Continental Army" on both sides of the pond. By the way, FrontBurner doesn't get it wrong very often, but they're incorrect about my being Tom Pauken Sr. or Junior. "Furrpiece is part of my name, and I've used it for years. Several people use pen names on blogs, and there's nothing wrong with it. Tom Pauken (Sr.) is pretty busy these days trying to keep people employed while Washington kills more jobs. So, I haven't seen him post but a few articles in recent months. While I'm honored to be accused of being part of the Pauken Clan, they don't deserve to be accused of being related to OUR clan.

written by furrpiece , January 09, 2010 I haven't been called an "accomplice" since the food fight in college for which I received a three-day suspension (coinciding with Easter Vacation) for accidentally using my baseball throwing arm to land a French roll in the French onion soup of a language teacher. (Well, there was that ONE time at a convention when I was named as a "co-conspirator" in taking over the PA system and playing a tape from flight school on "crabbing" to drown out an Earth Day speaker on "Our Friends The Jellyfish".)

written by cgi , January 09, 2010 is there a tactic to remove the demand for purchase of whale meat/products? its uncool these days to buy a mink coat as someone will just throw red paint on it what about the trucks that deliver the whale products, are they getting attacked too?
...
written by furrpiece , January 09, 2010 cgi, mink coats are alive and well, and sales are better than ever. Today, if someone throws red paint on a mink coat, you can beat the devil out of them, and still sue them and collect enough to replace the coat, along with a little pain and suffering. People have been killing animals for their fur since civilization began. They will do so well into the future, I feel sure. I love animals, and have a special place in that affection for whales. However, they are no longer endangered, and some whaling does nothing to the population. If you control whaling instead of outlawing it, then you protect the whales and the whalers. Write comment
