"Last month," the New Mexico Watchdog, "reported on federal stimulus money credited with creating jobs in non-existent New Mexico Congressional districts. Further examination of the most recent report on the recipients and uses of New Mexico's share of the $787 billion stimulus shows jobs created and money going to zip codes that do not exist."
The New Mexico Watchdog had broken what became a national news sensation, and led to jokes by Jon Stewart and Steve Colbert. The Obama administration launched a website to track the destinations of billions of dollars of stimulus cash under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act disclosing billions funneled to non-existent Congressional districts. The www.recovery.gov federal government website reported $26.5 million siphoned-off to the New Mexico Congressional districts that do not exist. Supposedly, those millions had been credited with creating 61.5 jobs. Spadework, which is a counterpart of Watchdog in other states revealed that a total of $6.4 billion reported as being allocated to 4440 non-existent, or 'phantom,' congressional districts." According to the New Mexico Watchdog, "the agency charged with tracking the stimulus funds, the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, attempted to eliminate this embarrasment by lumping all the billions reported going to non-existent Congressional districts into a new category called the 'unassigned' Congressional districts." Upon closer examination of the most recent recovery.gov report for New Mexico proves that hundreds of thousands of dollars sent to and credited with creating jobs in zip codes which do not exist in New Mexico or anywhere else. Ironically, funds reported as getting spent in New Mexico were given zip codes that corresponded to regions in Washington and Oregon. written by Dr. Little , January 04, 2010 Has it occurred yet to anyone that maybe BAMAMA belongs in jail : FIRST, for not being qualified [not a US citizen] but purposefully violating US federal law by running for office of president and then "serving" while he knows he is not qualified to do so : and in the process likely signing a lot of documents fraudulently, and perhaps taking at least one oath fraudulently ..... SECOND, by serially violating US laws as he routinely disregards the consitution and laws and throws away taxpayer money and acts so irresponsibly as to be beyond mere negligence, and into real purposeful misconduct ????? Why is America giving this guy a "free ride" ? The longer he is allowed to function without any limits or restraint, the worse things are going to get.

written by Dr. Not Little , January 04, 2010 Is this a serious article??? The Fed makes the money available and the states spend/assign it to projects. I think you should go talk to the comptroller of NM. (As for Dr. Little: He won!!! Suck on it and I ain't talking about an egg.)

written by Dr. Little , January 05, 2010 DEAR "January 04, 2010" : Your obvious and appalling crudity is outpaced by your equally obvious ignorance : only a dolt could make or publish in public a silly, ignorant statement like "The Fed makes the money available and the states spend/assign it to projects." You need to "study up" on what the "FED" is, and does, and also on the current "stimulus" legislation; then you might want to learn a bit about the US Constitution, and the structure and function of the various major components of the federal government which it establishes. Whilst you are about this edifying business, please make some time to drain the vulgarity from your discourse : it simply shows you up for being dull and coarse, and defensive and ignorant. Polish yourself : somewhere within the current pitiful idiot that you are, there might be a diamond in the rough.......

written by furrpiece , January 05, 2010 First, let's get our terms correct. "Stimulus" is NOT intended to stimulate the U.S. economy or jobs. It is money intended for political payoffs and to reward those who voted for Obama. Second, the federal government is taking OUR money, and that of our children, and redistributing wealth by giving our money away in the name of "stimulating" jobs. (That must be why unemployment has gone up to double digits since Obama was elected.) Third, Obama won through what we are discovering is a massive amount of dishonesty. But, winning doesn't mean he is king; it means he is a public servant and serves to protect and defend the Constitution and the country, and work with the Congressional Branch and the Judicial Branch. Obama has claimed jobs were created in Congressional Districts that don't even exist. So, is it any surprise that he's hiding money by claiming to send it to Zip Codes that don't exist? Write comment

First, President Barack Obama sent stimulus funds to phantom Congressional districts. As if that wasn't enough, now he's sending taxpayers' hard-earned cash to phantom zip codes.
