I recently laughed at a comment made by Kinky Friedman, a singer, novelist, and politician, running as a Democrat this time (in 2006 he ran as an Independent) for governor of the State of Texas. The comment that made me laugh was when Don Imus in his new Fox Network show asked Kinky how he planned to address the illegal alien problem in Texas. Kinky responded, "Don, illegal immigration is not a Democrat problem, it’s a national problem." Folks, why Kinky’s comment is laughable is because this man is in a state of denial or just doesn’t understand the origin of why illegal immigration is a national debacle. Democrats, unbeknown to many of them own this debacle we call illegal immigration. "Why James?" some might ask. Let me explain ladies and gentlemen, illegal immigration is fueled by our Welfare Programs. And who started the Welfare Programs ladies and gentlemen? You got it, the Democrats under the Administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson with his now 50 years of his failed Great Society Program. This socialist program, takes the hard earned money of American workers and gives it to those who don’t work in the form of free food, free housing and Lord knows what else. Isn’t it funny, Welfare Programs were supposed to help the downtrodden and we still have the downtrodden in larger numbers and expanding? It’s obvious that the downtrodden probably think, "Why work, Uncle Sam will take care of us. To heck with work, I’m staying home and wait for my welfare assistance in the mail."

After viewing Kinky on the Imus Show, I changed channels to view C-SPAN. The show’s topic focused on addressing the high unemployment problem in our country. The guest on the show was discussing the soon to be held Jobs Summit at the White House addressing the 10.2% high unemployment rate in our country. As the guest revealed who’d be attending the jobs summit at the White House, viewers soon called to voice their opinions. A caller, ironically, from Plano, Texas, cracked me up. The Texan commented that unemployed Americans should migrate to Texas where unemployment stands at 8.2% and in October of this year, Texas gained 41,700 jobs. Particularly in the housing industry, which is still strong. But, he warned if they sought a job in construction they should change their last name to ‘Garcia’, because employers in the housing industry prefer hiring illegal aliens over workers with a non-Latino last name. As I heard the guy from Plano, Texas, I recalled a video emailed sent to me by my cousin, Rudy, who lives in Brownsville, Texas. In the video, a Hispanic is shown offering classes to white Americans to learn to talk like an illegal alien to get a job in the USA. The video later shows a white woman cleaning a bathroom while speaking in a broken English-Spanish mode.

Folks, think about this for a minute, we have according to government statistics, over 11 million illegal immigrants (57% from Mexico, 24% from Latin Countries, 9% from Asia, and 6% from Europe and Canada) in the United States, down from 12.5 million in 2007. What are they doing here and how do they survive here? The answer is simple — they work! Many able-bodied Americans who are uneducated and on welfare will not take a job that an illegal immigrant will do. "And why not James?’ one would ask. Again, the answer is simple — government welfare programs discourage those on welfare not to seek or take a job. Really, it is not that difficult to understand why illegal immigration is rampant in our country.

If President Obama would invite me to his Jobs Summit and asked me, "James, how can we put more Americans to work?" I’d tell him, "Mr. President, enforce our immigration laws and fine those who knowingly hire illegal immigrants and you immediately would create over 11 million jobs!"

Then I would give him 14 examples of how much money American taxpayers would save if our immigration laws were enforced:

Example 1: $11 billion to $22 billion is spent on "welfare" to illegal aliens each year by state governments.

Example 2: $2.2 billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, IC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

Example 3: $2.5 billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

Example 4: $12 billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally.

Example 5: $17 billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

Example 6: $3 million dollars a day is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

Example 7: 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.

Example 8: $90 billion dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for welfare & social services by American taxpayers.

Example 9: $200 billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages is caused by illegal aliens.

Example 10: The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white, non-illegal aliens.

Example 11: During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 million illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border, and as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from terrorist countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the US from the Southern border.

Example 12: The National policy Institute, estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five-year period. (So what are we waiting for, it's much cheaper than keeping them here.)

Example 13: In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 billion in remittances to their countries of origin.

Example 14: A Dark Side of Illegal Immigration — Nearly One million sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants in the United States.

My fellow Americans, the total cost is a whopping $338.3 billion dollars a year. That would be enough money to stimulate the American economy for the citizens of this country.
