New Poll Finds Two-Thirds Of Republicans Want Hutchison To Stay In Senate. A poll conducted by Wilson Research Strategies on behalf of Empower Texans finds 69 percent of Republican primary voters want U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to stay in the Senate and fight the policies and programs being advocated by President Obama and the congressional leadership. "Sen. Hutchison has clearly established herself in the minds of Texas voters as a leader in the fight against ObamaCare," said Michael Quinn Sullivan, president of Empower Texans and Texans for Fiscal Responsibility. "And it appears her primary base voters are eager for her to continue her work in Washington." The poll was conducted by Wilson Research from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24 and sampled 600 primary voters. "We were interested in finding out, this week before filing begins, what primary voters thought of the upcoming race and the impact on national issues," explained Sullivan. "Texans clearly appreciate the effective leadership Sen. Hutchison has shown, and aren’t eager for her to be distracted." Note On Methodology On behalf of Empower Texans, Wilson Research Strategies conducted a state wide research study of likely Republican primary voters in Texas. Respondents were asked: "Please tell me if you agree or disagree with the following statement: I would prefer that Kay Bailey Hutchinson devote her full attention to the United State Senate fighting Obama’s misguided policies until her term expires in 2012 and not run for Governor." Respondents were contacted by phone via a live telephone operator interview November 22-24, 2009. The study has a sample size of n=600 with a margin of error of ±4% in 95 out of 100 cases. The sample was stratified to represent the Texas state electorate based on age, gender, and geographic distribution. Link here for key findings memo from Wilson Research Strategies.

written by John Weekley , November 26, 2009 Sometimes, success in politics is being in the right place at the right time. But, it's more often NOT being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Interesting poll.

written by austin , November 27, 2009 "...stay in the Senate and fight the policies and programs being advocated by President Obama" That pretty well sums up the GOP now. They don't have any new ideas, don't care about solving problems, their only goal is block anything that Obama proposes. And they wonder why they are regarded as the "Party of No" even as they complain that nothing gets done in Washington. Write comment
