Dobbs quipped when asked about a possible presidential campaign that, "what's so crazy about that? It's one of the discussions that we're having. for the first time, I'm actually listening to some people about politics. We've got to do something in this country." A wave of support for Dobbs as presidential candidate was established on the internet well before the veteran newsman announced his resignation from CNN, where he was employed as anchor and managing editor of 'Lou Dobbs' Tonight." In January 2009, the website 'loudobbsforpresident.org' was launched to stimulate support for a possible 2012 presidential bid. William Gheen, the website's founder, told Fox News on Monday, that, "Lou dobbs would make a good president because he is truly a man of the people." According to Fox, "Gheen, who also heads Americans for Legal Immigration, claimed Dobbs 'has been more in tune with the American public on issues like global trade, homeland security and illegal immigration than either of the Democrats or Republicans we have been offered in the last nine years." He added, "people are looking for something fresh and new." When his website was launched last January, Gheen claimed 3,000 people pledged over $600,000 for a possible Dobbs presidential bid. In an ironic twist of fate, Lou Dobbs is married to a Mexican-American woman although he rarely speaks about his wife publicly. After nearly three decades with CNN, Lou Dobbs resigned from the network and hinted in a radio interview Monday that he's speculating on a future in politics. He hasn't ruled out a run for the White House.
