According to Reuters, "U.S. ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues, Stephen Rapp, made a debut appearance for the United States at the world's war crimes court Thursday and said the U.S. remained wary of publicly-driven prosecutions." The United States has not been a signatory to the 2002 Rome treaty, which established the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, and Mr. Rapp's attendance at conferences this week and next is the most significant sign yet of Washington's participating with the court. He said, "our view had been and remains that should the Rome Statute be amended to include a defined crime of agression, jurisdiction should follow a Security Council determination that agression has occured." Rapp claimed however that the U.s. was eager on "gaining a better understanding of the issues being considered and the workings of the court. The court itself has an interest in not being drawn into a political thicket that could threaten its perceived impartiality." As reported by Reuters, "Rapp's attendance comes after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in August it was a 'great regret' the United States was not a full ICC signatory." Yet, Rapp, the former chief prosecutor at the Special Court for Sierra Leone, announced the U.S. remained flustered about the issue of the crime of agression because U.S. officials or servicemen and women may risk ICC investigations for their roles in wars due to politically-motivated prosecutions." written by John Weekley , November 19, 2009 This is an outrage! None of the flirtatious language fools anyone; this is another case of Obama, "a citizen of the world", surrendering American sovereignty. That any Commander-In-Chief of our troops would betray them by turning them over to some international kangaroo court for war crimes in inexcusable, and unforgivable. Since George Washington, the American military has disciplined its own troops, and some of those decisions have resulted in death penalties. Obama has never served in the military. In fact, he's never so much as been a Boy Scout. This decision betrays such a seismic disconnect with the military and the American people that it's difficult to believe even he would do such a thing. OBAMA AND ERIC HOLDER WANT THE 9/11 TERRORISTS TO BE TRIED ON CIVILIANS COURTS IN NEW YORK WITH ALL CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF A U.S. CITIZEN, BUT THEY WANT OUR SOLDIERS TRIED IN THE HAGUE???????? This must never be allowed. Period!

written by Dr. Little , November 19, 2009 More bad news from America's first communist president. Obama is not loyal to America, and has no respect for our troops. He also fails to show any understanding for, or appreciation of, America's position in the world and the burdens associated with that position. Obama needs to go home to Kenya, where he is a citizen. He is a pretender here in America, and is not qualified legally to be president; but the U S Courts lack the guts to tackle that issue. The foreign courts, however, will take on the "task" of trying Americans in Kangaroo Court settings, if they are permitted to do so. This is a bad scenario.

written by Byron George , November 20, 2009 obama seems to be intentionally trying to single handedly destroy this country. OBAMA AND ERIC HOLDER WANT THE 9/11 TERRORISTS TO BE TRIED ON CIVILIANS COURTS IN NEW YORK WITH ALL CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS OF A U.S. CITIZEN, BUT THEY WANT OUR SOLDIERS TRIED IN THE HAGUE???????? Agree, agree agree John Weekley. Could it be that he wants one of his brothers afforded Constitutional rights while his enemies, the infidel American troops, are hung out to dry. You obamaites....Do you still like this Change we have going on?

written by Dr. Little , November 20, 2009 DEAR "PATRIOTIC AMERICAN" : Please give your name and address and I will see to it that a copy of THE EMPRESS PROJECT is sent to you. When you read it, and learn from it, you will realize that your assessment of it [and even of me] is incorrect; and you will be better prepared to defend the freedoms [including freedom of expression] that you obviously enjoy, and apparently take for granted. I know what is in the book, and I know that I and others have well and thoroughly and carefully researched what is in the book. You might be interested to know that it has been looked over carefully by a number of competent, balanced, and patriotic Americans after it was in final form, and also after its initial publication : they see that it is a beacon of truth, and know it for what it is : a real patriots' [notice that last word is in plural, not by accident] project. I respect your freedom to make your own assessments, and to hold your own opinions, and to agree or disagree with me or anyone : that is part of the freedom here in America; but I respectfully submit to you that calling names, and criticizing a book that you apparently have not read, is not really fair debate, sir. That said, I'll bet you are really a nice person : and I will in any event see to it that a copy of the book is sent to you if you will provide name and address so it can be possible to have it sent to you.

written by furrpiece , November 20, 2009 Barack Obama is not one of us. He has no cultural connection to our country, he doesn't know how many states compose our nation, he doesn't know the difference between the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, and he has gone on worldwide tours belittling the United States, selling out our sovereignty, apologizing for us where no apology is due, and seems intent on destroying much of our freedom in the name of government control and intrusion. He is our first predatory president, and is unwilling to always put America first, no matter what. He is also the first president in our history to seal all of his his public records and private records such as school records and grades. One ask to ask, "What he is afraid of; what is he hiding?". However, if he participates in any manner whatsoever in allowing our military men and women, or any other Americans, being tried in a world court, he will find himself justifiably impeached. I agree with others that it is a sorry president indeed who would give Muslims terrorists who killed 3,000 Americans the same constitutional rights due American citizens in civilian courts, but would send some American soldier who took pictures in a military detainment center to the Hague to be judged by foreigners. That is absolutely unacceptable, and breaches the faith necessary between a Commander-In-Chief and our military.

written by furrpiece , November 20, 2009 A clarification on the matter of impeachment. Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution, sets forth the Presidential Oath of Office that says, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." The Constitution says on impeachment in Article II, Section 4, "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that gives the President the power to surrender American military people or civilians to any higher authority or third party judgment for war crimes. The Senate has never confirmed or approved such a treaty, and the United States has jealously guarded its sovereignty in such matters. If Barack Obama even signed an agreement surrendering American sovereignty to a higher world court for the purpose of trying Americans for war crimes, and/or surrendered troops within his command to a world court, it would violate his oath of office and his constitutional authority. He would therefore have committed an impeachable offense. Considering the traumatic turmoil the country went through with the impeachment of Bill Clinton for violating his oath of office by lying to a federal judge in a federal court proceeding, I don't use the word "impeachment" lightly or unadvisedly. I also consider Harry Reid's $100 million dollar apparent "bribe" of Sen. Landrieu for her vote on health care to be flirting with constitutional bribery. Write comment
