Fox Chicago News reports that, "police said Chicago School Board President Michael W. Scott was reported missing in the Monroe district in Chicago Sunday and police believe the body pulled from the river was possibly him." At about 3:20 a.m., fire crews arrived to recover the corpse floating in the canal of the river near 350 N. Orleans St., Joe Roccaslava, Fire Media Affairs spokesman said. As disclosed by Police Bews Affairs Officer Amina Greer, the body is that of a man. She noted that the call came in at 3:15 a.m. The body was recovered at about 4:30 a.m., as revealed by Hector Alfaro, police News Affairs officer. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office had not been notified until 5:15 a.m. According to Fox Chicago, "it was not known immediately who called it in and as of 3:45 a.m. several police and fire department units including a dive team were working on recovering the body." Personnel appeared to be utilizing a light to assist in the comprehensive search. Ladder truck No. 3, engine No. 42; ambulance No. 42 and a minimum of one more fire truck remained on the scene as of 4 a.m. that was taped of with yellow police tape. Alfaro would not confirm that Scott was reported missing as of 5 a.m. On Monday as of 5 a.m., Chicago Public Schools could not be reached. As reported by Fox Chicago, "Belmont area detectives are conducting a death investigation, according to Greer."
