He said, "I've been working day and night to get this open," when asked why he saw a need for such a procedure. According to WFAA Channel 8 News Dallas, "Dr. Boyd opened the Fairmount Center, Texas's first abortion clinic, in 1973. But, after 36 years, his practice has outgrown the small office at Fairmount Street and Cedar Springs Road near Uptown." Last week, he merged the clinic with Aaron Women's Health Center and then reopened them both under a new umbrella called the Southwestern Women's Surgery Center at Royal Ln. and Greenville Ave. The new location is a surgery center, unlike his other clinics, which means Boyd and his staff are presently able to offer late-term abortions for women in their second trimester up to six-months or 24-weeks pregnant. Dr. Boyd projected, "for us, since we'll be serving such a large area, we'l probably see 2,000 second trimester abortions a year. This is the only place of its kind in North Texas. But, it's controversial because the fetus is viable." WFAA quotes Dr. Boyd as saying that, "before this opened, they're flying to Alburgurque," referring to his patients. "They were flying to Kansas, flying to Colorado, sometimes they went to Atlanta. So, there are women who desperately need and want this service and it wasn't available." Karen Garnett of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, conceded that, "it is not illegal. But just because something's legal doesn't mean it's right. Slavery was legal and it wasn't right. Segregation was legal but it wasn't right. Abortion is legal but it's not right." As reported by WFAA, "the Catholic Pro-Life Committee of Dallas relocated sidewalk counselors to the new clinic hoping to prevent women from going inside." The participation by the mother makes her not just an accessory, but a primary actor in the assault and ultimate killing. Call it a guess, but I think it's probable that this "clinic" will not be around long.

written by furrpiece , November 05, 2009 I would never advocate bombing or torching an abortion facility, shooting abortionists, or engaging in other unlawful behavior where they are concerned. However, late-term killing of a viable baby, or the murder of a live-born baby, is an inhumane atrocity and amounts to infanticide. I don't consider prevention of a zygote from attachment to the uterine wall to be abortion. But, once it's attached, killing it increasing becomes a moral question for me. However, there is no question of morality involved in killing a viable baby either inside the womb or outside of it. If you want an abortion, get it early. If you do it late, you're killing a person. For me, there are times when I believe abortion is justified, and we don't need to go into those here. But, I find repugnant, disgusting, and dangerous to the community to have a late-term abortionist practicing what amounts to permissible killing of innocent, defenseless children in our midst. Just my take on it.

written by Grrr , November 06, 2009 I went to the website of this, "clinic." It's disgusting. But we still have an active death penalty in our state. I guess we really don't like life so much anyway. The same laws that allow this horrible, "clinic" are the same laws that allow lethal injection.

written by Byron George , November 06, 2009 grr. how can you dare equate the murder of an innocent baby with putting to death a pos such as the muslim who committed 9/11 II at Fort Hood yesterday. Our country kills babies everyday and you can mark my words on this..when the pos that did the killing yesterday is put on trial there will be idiot extremist who will say that it wasn't his fault and defend him to the very end. Personally, I wish they could waterboard him and find out who helped him plan this attack. Innocent babies deserve to live...these evil terrorist deserve to die when the kill Americans. Write comment
