Obama's Faith-based Adviser Calls Knights of Columbus: "Army of Oppression" PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Fri, Oct 16, 2009, 11:27 AM
Army Knights.jpgHarry Knox had been appointed to serve of President Barack Obama's advisory council on faith-based partnerships, and a formidable leader of the homosexual activist group, the Human Rights Campaign. He may not have been officially appointed as a White House czar, but he holds a powerful position in the administration and actively works to denigrate faith-based organizations.

The Catholic News Agency reports that Mr. Knox "has called Pope Benedict XVI and Catholic bishops 'discredited leaders' and has attacked the Knights of Columbus as an 'army of oppression' for their work to preserve the definition of marriage as a union between a man and woman."

Mr. Knox is not alone in his beliefs that the Knights of Columbus is an "army of oppression." David Bohnett, a wealthy homosexual activist, advises 'active measures' against religious opponents.

According to the Catholic News Agency, "delivering an acceptance speech for a GLSEN award, a wealthy homosexual activist has attacked Catholic leaders, saying they are among his movement's 'greatest adversaries.' He called on his allies to combat 'head-on' religious organizations opposed to homosexual causes and to take 'active measures' against them. At its Oct. 9 Resepect Awards event in Los Angeles, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) honored David Bohnett, the cable network HBO and screenwriter Shondi Rhimes with its Lifetime Achievement Award. They were awarded for what GLSEN called 'their commitment to all American students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression."

In the 1990s, Bohnett was the founder of the internet venture Geocities, which had been purchased by Yahoo near the peak of the technology stock bubble. Now, he heads the David Bohnett Foundation, an organization that says it is "committed to improving society through social activism."

As reported by the Catholic News Agency, "the foundation reports that it has given out more than $34 million in grants, with $10.8 million going to non-profits that "benefits gays and lesbians."

An "army of oppression" ?

What tripe : and from a guy who apprently is not Catholic, and likely knows nothing much about the Knights of Columbus except for knowing the name of that organization. A guy who is apparently another one of these prideful and godless communists that seem to abounf in OBAMALAND.

Is this a discriminatory attack upon Catholics, or upon Christianity, or only upon the Knights of Columbus; or is it a discriminatory attack upon all of them ? Is this attack "hate speech" ? Communists routinely attack Christianity, and hate Christianity; and Mr. Hitler and his goons seemed to be pretty hateful toward Catholics. Is this what OBAMA is bringing to America ?

I know a lot of people who are Catholic. Some of them may be members of the Knights of Columbus, and some of them likely never even think one way or the other about the Knights of Columbus; but I'll bet all of them would be surprised and shocked to hear someone claim that the Knights of Columbus are an "army of oppression"; and some Catholics would propably be offended to hear that baseless and vile accusation. I know I am surprised; and I have to say that I find this sort of accusation patently offensive.

Aren't you getting awfully tired of having to listen to shrill and baseless and unjustified criticism of most everything in America, always seeming to gush forth from OBAMA and from all of these prideful and godless communists that seem to abound in OBAMALAND ? I know I am.

He promised "Change" and we are getting it.

The wild part is people continue to defend him when he has done nothing.

How many soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since he took office. That was a big deal during the Bush administration but rarely do we hear a word about it anymore.

Where are all those jobs he promised? At some point his cronies and the American people are going to stop buying the "Bush Caused It" line of bull that the WH loves to spread.

Continue to notice that the Messiah's ratings are dropping like a rock. Going to try to cram national healthcare down the Americans throats because as one Senator put it. "we know what is better for the public than they do."

I disagree with the President..i guess that makes me stupid, unsensitive, un-American and a racist. Isn't that the term used by anyone who dares to disagree?

Obama has the worst judgment about people ever seen in a White House. He's not only surrounded by revolutionaries, but by those who seem determined to shred the fabric of American family life and traditions.

It is difficult to believe that someone no brighter than Obama managed to find and recruit all of these people. Besides George Soros, it would be interesting to find what ghetto or gulag refugee was responsible for finding and assembling them in the most Leftist administration in our nation's history.

That the traditional media is ignoring this is also beyond belief. Apparently, their love affair with Obama is more important than their traditional watchdog role over government.

Anyone in the Executive Branch insulting the Knights of Columbus or the Catholic Church violates the "Constitution", but also tramples on the religious tradition of the United States.

Clearly, Obama is not a Christian. That he has people in his hire that would so thoughtlessly disparage a mainstream religious service organization with such an outstanding record of success says even more about his lack of understanding of the American people.

This should not be forgotten!.. I'll print it and make sure all the Knight Councils here hear about it!.

Well, I could never agree with Mr. St. Clair except for moment.

But let us all go out & say that we don't need "Obamacare" because us good Christians will go out & take care of those that don't have health insurance.

Byron, Obama is a Christian, but he lacks the will to put asunder the vile forces that will not make universal healthcare a reality.

That said, KofC rocks!

Grr, Liberals give less to charity than Conservatives.

If money is the measure of how much you care, according to the numbers, Conservatives care more for the poor than Liberals.

Despite giving less themselves, Liberals desire to help the poor by unconstitutionally taking the money of others using the Federal Government.

A bit of moral confusion here?

Have a look at the Communists, Marxists, Socialists, Maoists, child predator enablers, and other thugs and cheats with whom Obama closely associates and surrounds himself, and ask yourself what the chances are that he's really a "Christian".

Grrr, you guys are funny. I would laugh if it weren't so tragic. You talk about progress, yet you are anachronisms from a by-gone big brother age. You speak of helping people, yet you are often the last to actually do something yourselves, preferring to talk and criticize. You just don't get it. Your words do not match your actions, typical of far-left politics. Your president talks about health care, yet with a fiscally limited government (unless you print money and ruin all of us) you must ration health care to the old, whatever you say.
The WH communications director says one of her two favorite philosophers is Mao Tse Tung, a mass murderer. That is somehow ok with you guys, but if someone had cited Hitler, you would go nuts. You live on ideas, not action. If suddenly all the ills of the world went away, you libs would be miserable, for there would be no opportunity for control.

At my next K of C meeting, in November, I'm going to propose that the Knights begin a campaign in Congress to include reparative therapy for homosexuals and treatment for gender identity disorder, in the health care makeover bill.

However, as the Knights are even bigger pussies than the NFL, it will go nowhere

Not being a Catholic, but Christian, this is another outrage from our new NON-CHRISTIAN administration! This shows why the "good book" pretty well lined out the likes of this guy & he thinks in his short life he can change centuries of Christianity with his twisted logic?

You wanted change, & you got it! I pray for "change in 31/2 years from this type of perversion! God will lead us out of this darkness!

It is a shame to see the depths that the American political scene has plunged to in the last 10 years. No one can disagree with either side without being labeled something; liberal, far right, racist, blah, blah, blah. Whatever happened to the right to disagree? Those in power make the rules, but when they lose that power and have to sit and watch their work be undone their complaints go into histrionics and hyperbole.
Actually I blame it all on Bill Clinton. Once it was OK to have adulterous sex in the Oval Office without any consequences, pretty much anything is fair game now. If you were one of the people who defended Bill back then I hope you are happy with how things turned out. We have no statesmen, no role models, no heroes to pint our children (or in my case, grandchildren) to and say "This is the right way to act".
What a shame that a fine, charitable organization like the Knights of Columbus has to suffer through such indignity.

Yes, it's all Bill Clinton's fault!

And they're an army of oppression based one your point of view. If you're gay and someone is keeping you from being married and you feel oppresses, then they would be an "army of oppression."

You've got a group trying to instill their values onto you... do I think they should be called an army of oppression? No. Am I outraged as a Catholic? No. Do I get their point of view on why they think they're being oppressed? Yes.

Calling Catholics or the Knights of Columbus an "army of oppression" is as wrong and ignorant as it is hate speech.

If you don't like their point of view, don't listen to them. But, as a service organization with an excellent reputation around the world, they are about helping others and defending the faith.

I find it beyond disgusting and lacking in genuine moral authority for fringe groups to take on a particular religion because they disagree with the behaviors.

This is one of the reasons the ACLU has fallen in stature to become an anti-American confab of lawyers bent on dragging America down as far as possible.

As a Protestant, and not a Catholic, I don't find myself defending Catholic service organization. But, I have friends in the Knights of Columbus, and they are some of the finest people I know.

That the Obama White House is populated with radicals, revolutionaries, and haters to the extent that it is bridges disturbing and suggests a higher level of danger.

That Obama's "faith based" council is populated with people who despise religion, seems to me, to be the best example of his true intent as a president.
