Alejandro Mayorkas, the director of the agency, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, said in an interview that, "we are under way to prepare for that." Mr. Obama has announced to immigration officials that a legalized program would become part of the legislation. The White House would make the proposal. Mr. Mayorkas was appointed as the agency's director in August. The goal of the agency, he said, is to prepare to expand quickly to handle the enormous increase in visa applications it would face when the legislation, known as comprehensive immigration reform, would pass Congress. According to the New York Times, "the citizenship agency faces a difficult balancing act, preparing for a potential workload bigger than any it had faced, based on legislation in early stages of discussions that is fiercely opposed by many lawmakers in Congress. also, the agency must work to reduce back log and delays that have hampered its performance." There have been no official estimates of the number of illegal immigrants who may apply for legal documents. The research groups in Washington D.C., the Pew Hispanic Center and the Center for Immigration Studies, estimate that at least 10.8 million illegal immigrants live in this nation. However a significant number of those may not be eligible for legal status for a variety of reasons, which include past immigration violations. Presently, the citizenship agency can handle applications from approximately 6 million immigrants a year, as revealed by Mr. Mayorkas. The process involves the time-consuming collection of fingerprints and other biometric identity information. It's quite possible that the agency will be flooded with 6-million-plus applications in a few short weeks. To read the entire article from the New York Times, link here:

written by furrpiece , October 02, 2009 Just hours after an illegal alien radical Muslim terrorist attempted to kill and maim thousands of Dallasites, President Obama ordered hundreds of Border Patrol agents moved from the Texas Border to the northern border with Canada. This also happens at a time when MORE Border Patrol agents were neede on the border with Mexico; not fewer. It was a no brainer that with many fewer border officers on the border, it would be open season for illegals to flood across to the United States. This article explains things. The only way in the world Obama would be re-elected would be votes from illegals given amnesty, citizenship, and the right to vote by him.

written by Jason K , October 02, 2009 Wasn't the Muslim arrested in the Dallas case on an expired travel visa? Please correct me if I'm wrong on that... If it's true, then I'm not sure how your post applies.

written by Byron George , October 02, 2009 Absolutely correct. Furrpiece. BHO cares nothing for this nation. He has not fulfilled ONE campaign promise since he has been in office. He has skyrocketed the defecit and unemployment is nearing 10%. But of course..that is Bush's fault. And I will make a small wager that before the weekend is over that the Obama Networks claim that Chicago not getting the Olympics also is Bush's fault. And surely Bill Clinton the the peanut farmer will place the blame on racism.

written by Dr. Little , October 02, 2009 At first one might ask if this is simply a "clever" way for BAHAMA to "naturalize" himself, since he is not rerally a US Citizen. Let's do America a favor and deport BAHAMA back to KENYA. Then let's see about enforcing all of our immigration laws. BAHAMA ought to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed", which means that instead of committing TREASON by flooding America with illegals and then pruporting to "transmography" them into citizens, he ought to be deporting them. But as we are seeing, BAHAMA is one who seems to believe that he is ABOVE the law. By the way, back in the 70's did not the same LIBS [including "Hilly" and "Billy"] who are now today's commie advisors to Emperor Bahama loudly criticize someone named Nixon for, as they claimed, failing to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed". As for the commie LIBS and also BAHAMA : A POX ON BOTH THEIR [political] HOUSES. Or is it that they all just actually live in the same house : somewhere on the "Far Left" of the street ?

written by bk , October 04, 2009 Furrpiece, you hit it on the head. The whole amnesty thing is directed toward democratic votes. That's it. Of course, the typical liberal sugar-coating is there.

written by manny s , October 05, 2009 By reading the comments section here I now understand that Ronald Reagan was a traitor who hated this country and wanted to fill the ranks of the Democratic Party. I am just summing up all the comments here and applying them to the last guy that gave an amnesty. If that’s the case I agree we need another Reagan! It doesn’t really matter we will get to Latino majority sooner or later whether it be done through a citizen son born to an illegal and going through the petition process or an out right amnesty,,,it really doesn’t matter, the pro side to the amnesty is that at least you can get them to pay taxes and put into social security.

written by drewski969 , October 08, 2009 This is really a warning shot to all students of constitutional law. I really hope the conservatives and moderates in Congress shut him down on this one. He has already tanked the economy; I can't believe he is really this maniacal in his quest to ruin our nation. When will it end? Write comment

Eventhough President Barack Obama has cast aside an immigration overhaul until next year, the federal agency in charge of approving visas is making plans for the likelihood of giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, the agency's director admitted Thursday.
