The Dallas Morning News reports that, "even after he left the White House and assumed the role of Fox News pundit, according to a new book, Rove told people that one of Barack Obama's potential vice presidential running mates beat his first wife." President George W. Bush assured a small corterie of staffers as saying that, "Karl says it's true." Knowing Karl, Bush then reiterated, "Karl hopes that it's true." A former Bush speechwriter, Matt Latimer, recounted the episode in his new book, Speech Less,' underscoring the relentless techniques of the country's most notable - and in some quarters, notorious - political operative. Latimer, an idealistic but naive young Republican when he arrived on Capitol Hill, worked his way up through Donald Rumsfeld's Pentagon and to George W. Bush's White House administration. He regarded Rove at that time as "a bespectacled messenger from the gods" like many young GOP staffers. According to the Morning News, "Rove was the guru behind Bush's political rise, first as governor, then as president. He was the architect of a new Republican majority. but then the party started losing, spectacularly. It lost Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008." Latimer writes, "Karl had come to power to lead a Republican realignment not seen in the country since the days of William McKinley. Yet, it was the Democrats, not the GOP, that seemed to grow stronger with each passing day." There is a perspective that Rove's politics were never about advancing conservative principles, but retaining power. He was about winning - every argument, every difference, even if that meant dividing your own team." written by Jason K , September 23, 2009 It's not really surprising. When you take a win at all costs and never give inapproach, it will eventually backfire. If he would've given in, even on meaningless arguments, the GOP may still be in power right now.

written by Ken Dickson , September 23, 2009 Anything to bash the critics of the "messiah"! With ACORN & all the other "brownshirts" of the current administration, "what is good for the goose should be good for the Gander"! Not true of this crowd! Tax cheats, communist, felons, whatever is ok if it is for Obama's staff! Rove is a winner...Van Jones is not!

written by G S , September 23, 2009 What the Dems really hate about Rove was that he beat them like a drum, over and over. The man who hired Latimer says Latimer’s book reads like “The Princess Diaries” full of hurt feelings and high-schoolish drama. . . . the tale of failure, foolishness and vanity it reveals is not necessarily the one the author intends. Karl Rove, as a political operative in Texas, was hardly alone in the practice of spreading malicious gossip to damage an opponent.
