Austin Tea Party Crowd Boos Sen. Cornyn PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Jul 6, 2009, 12:00 PM

Boos Cornyn.pngOn the Fourth of July, Texans who believe government is too big and taxes are too high rallied on the lawns of the Texas Capitol and courthouses across the state, at moments interrupting the speech of Sen. John Cornyn in Austin.

Hundreds of people gathered for Independence Day "tea parties" from Gilmer to Lufkin in East Texas to McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, "in Austin, Cornyn was booed at the start and close of his remarks critical of federal spending and taxes. Cornyn, a Republican invited by organizers to speak, drew some boos for voting for the federal bailout of Wall Street last year."

The Austin American-Statesman quotes Cornyn as saying after the speech that "I'm not part of Washington, I happen to work there, but on behalf of Texas, and I can vote 'no' on these reckless spending bills on the refusal to cut taxes."

Republican Gov. Rick Perry informed the Austin crowd that the nation's capitol needed to listen to them "loud and clear" on a message of reducing spending and taxation and shrinking the government.

In Austin, many in the audience of hundreds wore stickers that read, "I resist Socialism."

Organizers in Lufkin urged the crowd to contact President Barack Obama and say to him, "we are not happy, and we are working to make Texas free from his legislation."

As the names of Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were read, members of the crowd booed.

The Chronicle quotes Ted Cruz, former solicitor general of Texas, as telling the Lufkin crowd that, "I believe that President Obama was elected because we failed to lead. But I also believe that his greatest legacy as president will be that he inspired a new generation of conservatives to rise up and defend our liberty."

John Cornyn is doing a good job for Texas and he is a real conservative. The booing shows a crowd that is really "fed up" with what is coming out of D. C. But Senator Cornyn is not a cause of the problems.

All that said, John Cornyn can now go back to Washington, D. C. and when he casts a vote that the liberals do not like he can tell them that his constituents have made it very clear that they do not like what these liberals are trying to "dish up".

So maybe there is some usefulness in the booing; but Senator Cornyn is not the proper target.

The main proper target for booing should be OBAMA, that "empty suit commie" who is the "poster boy" for "change we can believe in", which is turning out to be in fact an outright attempt to "trash" our Constitution and communize America, and sell out her defenses and the defenses of her allies around the world.

Also deserving of major "booing" are all of the OBAMAISTAS : the "fellow travellers" who are trying to mess up our nation. Regrettably, at this time it appears that this unsavory crowd includes virtually all "DEMS" in elected positions in the federal government, and maybe even a few "R's"; but Cornyn is not one of them.

Let's hope that Americans rise up in sustained alarm and anger and turn out in great numbers at the polls to retire all of these bad folks when the 2010 elections come up.

As for OBAMA : well, we will have to wait until 2012 to have a chance to vote on him : but let's pray that when that time comes he will be defeated at least as decisively as the notorious COMMIE~CRAT George McGovern was defeated.

Long live America !

Long live John Cornyn !!

As for the "LIBS" and "COMMIES", let's continue to tell them they are doing the wrong thing; and when the next elections come up, let's show them that we can turn out to vote and we can protect our freedoms.

Who needs Nancy Pelosi, any way ?

Who needs Hary Reid, any way ??

Who needs Barney Frank, any way ????

John Cornyn is a great American, and has shown leadership and courage in Washington. He is one of the few really effective Republicans in the Senate who stays on top of the issues and is articulate enough to express his conservative values without sounding like an ideologue.

I have to agree that Cornyn was received some boos because he is associated with Washington, and people are just fed up with dogfighting pit and what it has done to our economy, and our nation's reputation.

I do not believe Sen. Cornyn was booed for any other reason than "being from Washington".

That's enough, these days.

John Cornyn voted for every dime of pork that came out of Washington during the first half of this decade. He voted for every earmark, and unbalanced budget.

He also, as head of the NRSC, has officially placed support behind a very liberal, tax-raising Republican in the Florida Senatorial Primary at the expense of a conservative Republican.

He came out in favor of amnesty and open borders before his constituents raised so much hell that he flip-flopped.

He's nothing but a typical attorney/politician that only cares about remaining in power, not fixing what's wrong with the country.

As the crowd said at the Tea Party, John Cornyn IS the problem.

Maybe a few Republicans? Where have you been for the pst eight years? Was it democrats alone who supported the increased government spending (including domestic spending) and growth of government power under the Bush administration? Did bailouts start under Bush or Obama?

"Did bailouts start under Bush or Obama?"
