Alan Garcia.jpgThe U.S.-backed president is facing pressure by protesters. A nationwide strike by thousands of rain forest indians is igniting accusations of a proxy war involving Venezuela and a stringent peasant movement attempting to undermine Peru's pro-U.S. president

The Washington Times reports that, "for more than two months, thousands of natives have been protesting land reforms issued by President Alan Garcia. The laws required by a U.S.-Peru Free Trade Agreement - open vast tracts of rain forests to private energy and agriculture investment.

Natives irate over the new laws enacted in April donned war paint and harnessed spears, overran roads, seized control of oil facilities and blockaded rural airports.

Initially, Mr. Garcia said that the demonstrators would not force his hand. Yet, he backtracked after a June 5 confrontation in the oil-rich Amazon region caused the deaths of more than 30 police officers and protesters.

On June 18, Congress voted down two of the laws, handing Mr. Garcia a defeat and the natives a new awareness of their power.

According to the Washington Times, "Mr. Garcia, who appointed the prime minister, also has agreed to name a replacement for Prime Minister Yehude Simon. On Friday, Mr. Simon said he planned to step down this week in response to criticism of the government's handling of the protests, Reuters news agency reported. Mr. simon had indicated in mid-June that he would resign, but had not set a date."

Human rights organizations claim dozens of protesters were killed or kidnapped and are not accounted for on the official toll.

Opposition parties place the blame on Mr. Simon for the violence. In October, he was appointed after a corruption scandal caused a major government re-shuffle

As reported by the Washington Times, "his resignation would force the entire Cabinet to offer to step down, but Mr. Garcia is not expected to replace heads of key departments, such as the Finance Ministry. Mr. Garcia has not yet indicated who would replace Mr. Simon."

The failure of the last Bush administration to deal effectively with Chavez and with Latin America is coming home to roost, as this present communist led American administration is perceived [and probably correctly so] by the tools of communism in the Western hemisphere to be unwilling to protect democracy in Latin America from the aggressive misbehavior of evil communists like Chavez.

In the not too distant past, when Nazi Germany had grand designs to destabilize Latin America, and then to dominate Latin America, a Democrat in the White House [FDR, maybe you recall him] took effective steps to prevent that from happening; but that was then, and this is now : now the "Democrat" in the White House is not a real American patriot, like FDR was. The present "Democrat" in the White House is a phoney baloney communist posing as a "Democrat" and dominated by offshore communist interests [maybe you have heard of the CHICOM, or the Communists of Russia].

Even right now, as the merry OBAMAISTAS let free people in Latin America slide helplessly and haplessly into the abyss of communism, OBAMA is over in Russia giving away our defenses and those of our allies and friends in Western Europe and other parts of the world.

For GOD"S sake, America : please wake up before it is too late.
