Mexican Gangs Sweep into Texas PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Sun, Mar 8, 2009, 11:03 AM

Attack Mafia.jpgMexican gangs are infiltrating Houston and the city of Dallas may become their next target. Recent arrests due to a mistaken murder prove the perilous presence of gangs.

The Houston Chronicle reports that, “the order was clear: Kill the guy in the Astros jersey. But in a case of mistaken identity, Jose Perez ended up dead. The intended target - the Houston-based head of a Mexican drug cartel cell pumping millions of dollars of cocaine into the city - walked away.”

Perez, 27, was simply a working man, who was getting dinner late on Friday with his wife and young children at Chilos, a seafood restaurant on the Gulf freeway.

His murder and the failed assassination reveal the perilous presence of Mexican organized crime and how the cartel violence has swept into the city.

In December, arrests came when police and federal agents got a tip on the 2006 shooting as they investigated the relationship and rivalries between at least five cartel cells functioning in Houston, which was rogue’s gallery of about 100 names and mug shots taken at Texas jails and morgues offering blueprint for Mexican organized crime.

According to the Chronicle, “Houston has long been a major stepping ground for importing illegal drugs from Mexico and shipping them to the rest of the United States, but a recent Department of Justice report notes it is one of 230 cities where cartels maintain distribution networks and supply lines.”

The real crime boss at Chilos was sitting at another table as well as two spotters. The hit-man anxiously awaited in the parking lot for Perez to depart from the restaurant.

Norma Perez, the widow of Perez who was hit twice, said, “I just remember the guy coming up to us and he started shooting and shooting and shooting and never stopped. I know they will pay for what they have done maybe in the next life. I don’t know what is going to happen to them in this life.”

The gangster was captured on surveillance video and blended in with other customers as they gawked at the aftermath. He was dead too a few months later, shot down two miles from the restaurant.

There are those who think we can actually "win" a War On Drugs.

Very easy fix. Round up all the illegals, send them back. THEN station troops along the border and "make sure" that NOBODY crosses.

Put up sigs all along the border "in spanish, of course" advising the illegals they are within firing distance.

That is the most complicated absurd response to the problem. You're clearly not a fiscal conservative. The best idea would be to legalize the drugs they are killing each other over in the first place, tax them, make a profit.

No, Amy, that is the Libertarian/Liberal approach to the problem; legalize drugs and watch the nation's youth spiral even further down the drain.

The Conservative approach is to end the trafficking once and for all by beefing up border security and increasing mandatory sentences to the point that people wouldn't consider moving drugs. Don't try to pretend that you understand Conservatism, you don't.

Please tell me about conservatism from your 4 hours of higher education when you actually stayed in class.

Ok Amy,
Here is your chance. For the last couple of weeks all you can do is insult people because of your suspected lack of higher education. Since you want to tell us so bad about yourself, I am giving you an opportunity to explain to all of us dumb country bumpkins about your degree.

It's time to stop playing by their rules. Our liberal laws are tying our hands. We have become crippled by our own system. We know who they are, we know where they are... Why are we not systematically wiping them out? If this is a real war, then there are casualties in a war, but so far the casualties are either innocents, or gang members shot down by other gang members. We have good intelligence, we always seem to have a huge paper trail and a larger file on who they are and what they are doing? Take 'em out. Get a trained military group, and wipe them all out. I think that would send a clear message.

Just in case anyone is curious about my own statistics
I'm white,
I'm fairly liberal,
I'm male,
I'm gay,
I have three advanced degrees,
and I believe in and have a healthy fear of God.

Most of these qualities would make people think I too am a huge liberal Democrat, and for most things I probably am, but not on this issue.

Take em out!
