In a cartoon episode scheduled to be broadcast Nov. 2, two days before the presidential election, Homer Simpson, the stupid star of the animated comedy ‘The Simpsons,’ attempts to vote for Barack Obama. According to the Houston Chronicle, “in the 20 years that ‘The Simpsons’ has appeared on the Fox television network, politics has often been a subject on the show. Homer has campaigned for candidates – including Ralph Wiggum, a second grader, and Homer’s boss, Montgomery Burns – and has even run for elected office himself. But this is Homer’s first vote in a presidential general election.” In the episode, Homer is seen using an electronic voting machine and saying, “it’s time for a change.” Yet, in a take on the accusations of voter fraud, which have occurred in past elections, the machine records the vote (multiple votes, actually) for John McCain, then tries to swallow Homer after he disagrees. As reported by the Chronicle, “the scene emerged on the Internet this week, leading some Web sites to take it as an endorsement. But the program said it was not trying to make a political statement. ‘We’re clowns at the fringe of the party.’ James L. Brooks, an executive producer, said Thursday in a telephone interview.” To read the entire article from the Houston Chronicle, link here:

written by Boo , October 03, 2008 Tom: Great, another partisan whine piece where you complain about a TV show that hasn't been funny in years and no one watches. While you were writing this you some how managed to miss some relevant to Dallas and politics news. Palin was in town this morning to do some fund raising. I guess covering that would actually require you to write something instead of paraphrasing some other news source though.

written by Marge Simpson , October 04, 2008 I do love Homer, but he is not very smart sometimes. HMMM .... I'm not sure endorsing Mr. Obama is very smart. I wish Hiomer would think about this. Experience is important...... Mr. McCain has much more experience. I'm not too sure about all this. I think maybe Homer has made one of his biggest mistakes. Oh .......... GRRR ....... how can I tell Homey about this ?

written by byx , October 05, 2008 You RW nutcases voted AGAINST experience in 2000 and again in 2004, for monkey-ears and his puppet-master. Who's the smart one now? It seems like some of you are still yearning for the days of the dixiecrats. Maybe we could put you all on South Padre, better yet, Galveston, and you could pretend to 'secede' again. Carolyn, a little BALANCE here, please? Or are you just under Tom's ever-bludgeoning thumb?

written by Amy in Austin , October 05, 2008 How many people who comment on this blog make more than $250,000 a year? For those of you don't, but are choosing McCain, YOU are the ones who are not very smart.

written by Austin , October 06, 2008 Palin comes to town, gives a speech the media is barred from covering, takes no questions, but DOES take the cash and leaves town quickly. And this, from the candidate who said she looked forward to "talking with the media" and "connecting with working Americans".....

written by Steve Heath , October 06, 2008 The Zogby exit polls may have been correct- The evidence I've seen suggests that Kerry probably won Ohio, and maybe Florida -- and the election. Why would anyone disagree with the premise that paperless voting -ala -Diebold, is anythng but a threat to democracy in America? Too many people are too trusting of the power elites that run this country - "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." -- Thomas Jefferson Our media, our Congress (both parties?) looked the other way for years while the Wall Street criminals have looted and plundered the country and now place us all in grave danger. I have been aware of this mess 60 Minutes talked about tonight for at least three years, as there are many economists and a few good politicians (you know who) who have been telling us this day would come - it was inevitable -as certain as the sun will rise in the morning. As i say, you can count on the mainstream media to to tell us some of the truth on important issues - after its too late. If the powers that be could all look the other way, lie to us repeatedly, while lining their own pockets for their own gain -what makes you think they couldn't (and wouldn't) steal an election? maybe the Neocon Clash of civilizations was all they cared about, and Bush/Cheney seemed like the perfect fools to continue carrying it out. Too bad the vast majority of our minority Democratic party did nothing to stop these foolish, irreponsible wars. Too bad shock'N'Awe turned out to be smoke and mirrors, and their scheme got sidetracked and stumbled when balance of power politics kicked in and the fools did not have the skill, judgment or competence to carry the plan out. Now Ron Paul's warnings are coming true - we'll have to get out of these reckless wars because we are bankrupt. It wasn't just Ron Paul -there were amny others. You just didn't hear about them on these issues from the mainstream media or our elected representatives who are supposed to be representing US. Those of you why buy this crap that the surge worked need to think again. It probably worked because the Shias listened to their Iranian allies and put forward a temporary truce until Bush/Cheney are gone and we have no choice but to pull out because our economy is collapsing and we are bankrupt. And for those of us who do not think we are already bankrupt, you need to do some serious research and soul searching. Any chance of reorganizing out of Chapter 11 will require that we somehow get back our manufacturing and industrial base that we shipped overseas so that the Wall Street goons could maximize their short term profits while they were plundering and looting this country with the most reckless, irresponsible and intentionally criminal Ponzi scheme of speculation and greed that has ever been seen in the History of mankind. We have a lot of work to do to rebuild our bubble/debt/service/ consumption based economy to a real sound economy that will provide a future for our children. The first thing we have to do is get rid of the scoundrels who have sold us down the river. it will take some time, as the majority of those on the ballot for for congressional elections and the major Presidential candidates belong to this exclusive club. We also need to recover the trillions the criminals have stolen from us. During the bailout hearings, I only heard a couple of brave and courageous representatives even mentioning this as a possibility. certainly not from Barney Frank. I always thought Bush would have one more screwup to shaft the Country before he left office. Unfortunately, with the bailout - the worst piece of legislation in the History of our country - I was right. God save us if he has any more surprises. I am anxiously counting the days until January 1st.

written by Steve Heath , October 06, 2008 Another thing - did it ever occur to any of you that Bush, the Congress, the media and a lot of others looked the other way and said nothing of this speculative, fraud/debt/consumption based economy because it created an illusory prosperity which allowed them to fund their reckless wars - the so called neocon "Clash of Civilizations" The thought has certainly occurred to me.
