A series of shaky Palin television interviews have left even some conservatives questioning whether she is ready to be vice president, and Palin has repaired to the McCain ranch in Arizona for prep, according to an AP story, while Biden is preparing at home in Delaware. For his part, Biden has to avoid talking down to the female candidate and falling into the trap that got former President George H.W. Bush when he was accused of "patronizing" Geraldine Ferraro in 1984. Both campaigns are playing the expectations game, ABC News reports.

written by Steve Heath , October 01, 2008 She'll be fine as long as she throws out the Scheunermann Neocon garbage and scripts - and just lets her true nature, personality and beliefs come through. She needs to be herself, and America will love her. I haven't given up on Sarah -yet. frankly, I wish she were at the top of the ticket instead of McCain. She can learn foreign policy and can surround herself with people who understand the world. Bush, Biden, McCain and Obama may know more facts about foreign policy , but they always seem to get it wrong on important issues - that's because they serve the wrong masters and special interests, instead of the interests of America and Americans.

written by Byron George , October 01, 2008 Preparing for the debates? That is the thing I despise most about debates. I had much rather the candidates not have a clue as to what the questions will be. Then we could see a couple of things. What they really think and how fast they think on their feet.

written by Austin , October 01, 2008 Palin is so ill-informed and so unprepared that the McCain campaign has insisted the VP debate format be changed because the current one would "unfair" to her. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/us/politics/21debate.html Isn't that what the opponents of affirmative action have long complained about - making "special" rules for those who cannot compete on an equal footing?

written by Byron George , October 01, 2008 Austin, I doubt Palin is as ill-informed as you wish her to be. Don't you think it would be more informative if all the candidates had debates having no idea what the question would be. I could do a decent job at a debate if I "practiced" for a couple of weeks. Are you the least bit concerned that the moderator of the debate has a book coming out about Obama? Seems the author might have just a little riding on this election. I want to see a debate where the candidates stand up before everyday citizens and answer their questions. Of course, it will never happen. Write comment

Thursday night's vice presidential debates promises high theater, with ill-informed newcomer Sarah Palin against experienced but gaffe-prone Joe Biden. Already, 3,100 media credentials have been issued, the most the Commission on Presidential Debates ever needed in seven vice presidential debates it's hosted. The first presidential debate Friday night drew more than 52 million viewers, but less than expected, probably because it was a Friday night.
