Commissioner Price to Speak at Wilmer City Hall Tonight PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, Sep 18, 2008, 05:42 PM

The Dallas Blog has just received an email from an assistant of CEO Richard Allen of the Allen Group. Mr. Allen is a real estate developer, who is attempting to build industrial parks in the impoverished area of South Dallas County.

He recently ran into conflict with Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, who wants to delay current development projects in the region for another 18 months so that a consultant could conduct an environmental impact study, which is called the ‘Interlocal Agreement.’ The Allen Group opposes the study.

The email states: “we just learned that the City of Wilmer will take up the Interlocal Agreement to address the Comprehensive Development Plan for South Dallas County this evening at 7:30 p.m. at Wilmer City Hall. Although he is not on the Agenda, we have been told that Commissioner Price will speak in favor of this issue … The Allen Group’s position has not changed.”

Thanks, JWP, for standing up to corruption.

Because, you know, what could go wrong in putting industrial sites in neighborhoods of color, right?

These "industrial" sites will be warehouses and logistics centers, making use of the UP railroad on I-45. I think South Dallas would like to have new jobs in their own backyard, rather than having to commute every day to Grand Prairie, Arlington or even Alliance. JWP is a moron and one of the biggest road blocks in South Dallas from ever getting out of the rut it's been in for years.
