Rep. Dianne White Delisi (R-Temple) received an appointment as a civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army. She was sworn in last week. In that capacity, Delisi will work to aid wounded warriors returning from overseas and also serve as a liaison between the secretary of the army and the general public and the legislature in Texas. Her appointment required her early resignation from the Legislature. Delisi served in the Legislature 1991-2008, and was in her second term as chair of the House Public Health Committee when she resigned earlier this year. Civilian aides serve without compensation, and the program was started after World War I to help returning veterans.
