According to Fox News, “referencing the crowd of 200,000 who attended his speech in Berlin, the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to the Washington Post, told the standing-room only audience of Democratic House representatives, “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.” But supporters at the event say Obama’s point was that the enthusiasm is not about him at all, but about the Obama would not discuss the contents of the meeting with reporters waiting outside the closed-door meeting. He only said that he would be campaigning alongside members to win the presidency and help to expand Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. The meeting was not publicly recorded. As reported by Fox News, “the Illinois senator’s remarks to the Democratic caucus come on the heels of a fundraiser Monday night near Washington, in which he expressed confidence in his chances of victory in November, saying ‘the odds of us winning (the election) are very good.” To read the entire article from Fox News, link here:

written by Michael Davis , July 30, 2008 From Time Magazine's website: Quote from Dem About Obama Remark Taken Out of Context A Democrat who was in the room during Obama’s closed-door meeting with House Dems Tuesday tells The Page: This quote was taken out of context. Here is the full quote: “His entire point of that riff was that the campaign IS NOT about him. The Post left out the important first half of the sentence, which was something along the lines of: ‘It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign, that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It’s about America. I have just become a symbol … .”

written by Jonathan Green , July 30, 2008 Fox News, the most racist media outlest outside of Tom McGregor and the Dallas Blog. Poof! No such merits to this assertion. He is not lying, he has misled anyone; GB, are attack Craig Watkins with racist under the table comments.

written by Paul Barnes , July 30, 2008 Wayne Slater, who co-wrote "Bush's Brain," has a much better depiction of this episode over at the Trailblazers blog at dallasnews.com. This is Karl Rove's dog whistle to the far-right. He's now working for Fox News and this is his way of saying that Obama is "uppity." Rove has also used "trash talk" and "pick up basketball games" to describe Obama. Nice Southern Strategy there, huh? It feeds into the RNC's allies like Fox, Rush, Sean, and, alas, Dallasblog. Michael, thanks for pointing out that Senator Obama's words were taken out of context - much like the lie being spread about his not visiting the wounded troops at Ramstein.

written by Jim , July 30, 2008 Im getting tired of everyone saying that someone, or some news outlet is racist if they dont like Obama...or anyone else for that matter. Just because someone doesnt like him or think that he is the best candidate does not make them racist. I hope you realize that the more you accuse people of this false racism, the more harm is done to real racism. Racism exists, but not just because I dont like someone. Perhaps you are the racist.... or perhaps the majority of the African American community who states that they are voting for Obama because he is black are racists. Im voting for John McCain, not because he is white, but because he is QUALIFIED.

written by Brown Bess , July 30, 2008 Geez. This story has been fully, totally, rebutted. Please reflect that in your "reporting." And does this mean we're going to see Rove's daily talking points displayed as news items on DB for the rest of the campaign?

written by Byron George , July 30, 2008 Jim, don't be to hard on the libs with the racist issue. It's all they have. If the Bush administration is as bad as the democrats would have you believe, BHO would have a substantial lead in the presidential race. He has little chance of being elected. The saddest part of it all is a few people who are going to vote for BHO simply because of his race. Now that is scary.
...
written by Bob , July 30, 2008 No, Byron, equally as sad is the more than a few people who are goig to vote against BHO simply because of his race. But with our racial history, that is not scary, just expected.

written by Brown Bess , July 31, 2008 As opposed to the msny people who will vote for McBush because of his color.

written by Byron George , July 31, 2008 Just a prediction. When Obama loses the election the first words from the liberal camp will be to make it a racial issue. They will probably file a discrimination lawsuit against the American public. Write comment
