The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved the measure despite complaints from representatives of McDonald’s Carl’s Jr. and other companies, who claimed they were being unfairly targeted. The Los Angeles Times reports that, “councilwoman Jan Perry, who has pushed for a moratorium for six years, said the initiative would give the city time to craft measure to lure sit-down restaurants serving healthier food to a part of the city that desperately wants more of them.” The ban last for one with possible two six-month extensions, covering a 32-square-mile area. written by Holy Roller , July 31, 2008 Why can't I just eat my 2000 calorie happy meal in peace? They have healthy food at fast food places. If people don't want to buy it, then so be it. Now you're just going to force people to drive further, rather than walk and actually get some exercise, on their way to McDonalds. Write comment
