Pro-Chavez Catholics Form New Church PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Mon, Jul 7, 2008, 03:48 PM

Catholic Chavez.jpgIn China, the Patriotic Church is composed as a Catholic organization that supports the Chinese Communist Party. Now, some leftists in Venezuela have established the Reformed Catholic Church to promote the socialist propaganda of President Hugo Chavez. But religious leaders in the country are criticizing the newly-found church.

The BBC News reports that, “the Reformed Catholic Church was set up by a group of Anglicans and Catholics who wanted to put more emphasis on helping the poor. But the ruling body of the Catholic Church says its members are criminals who are trying to divide the Church.”

The Church and Chavez have been involved in frequent conflicts in Venezuela. The Roman Catholic faith is practiced widely in the nation, but the new group’s open support for President Chavez’s socialist policies is deepening those divisions.”

The Reformed Catholic Church had been formed by a group of priests from a mixed-background with a small following – a few thousand people in the western region of the country.

Despite its size, its philosophy is ruffling a few feathers. The ruling council of the Catholic Church, the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference has described the founders as delinquents. The Church contends that the organization is taking money from the government and mixing politics with religion.

Chavez earned notoriety for making many critical comments against the Catholic Church calling it “elitist.”

Neither the Patriotic Church nor the Reformed Catholic Church is a Catholic organization.

Right Wing Republican Volunteer :

You are on the correct pathway of analysis; but the ties between Hugo and the CHICOM are much deeper than if Hugo had simply done a little bit of reading : the CHCOM need fuelstock, and want a strategic base in the Western Hemisphere, while greedy and evil COMMY Hugo wants to have the protection of a large and powerful (and unprincipled) partner; and the result is that there is a deeply rooted strategic alliance in place now between (1) CHICOM (who among other things are doing training in Venezuela, and building refineries in Venezuela, and getting discount prices on oil in Venezuela) and (2) Hugo, who is stealing private property (under guise of "nationalization") and who is abusing people (a la Hilter, and Stalin and Mao).

What is worse is that Hugo has close ties to, and has been nurtured by, certain US-based COMMIES who "hang out" posing as "Democrats", and who have their own ties and alliegances to the CHICOM.
