Speaker Tom Craddick has appointed Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) to the Legislative Budget Board. Branch replaces Rep. Fred Hill (R-Richardson) who resigned from the board and is not seeking re-election to the House. The Legislative Budget Board is an agency of state government that performs a variety of duties relating to state finance, including adopting a state spending limit, preparing reports for lawmakers, and (at least for the next two years) approving comprehensive development agreements authorized by the Texas Transportation Commission. "Representative Branch is a distinguished legislator with a long history of service to his community," said Craddick. "I am honored that he's decided to accept this new role, and I look forward to our continued work together to secure the financial future of the state of Texas." written by LibertyRepublican , July 02, 2008 Dan branch is an elitist know it all who has stated publically that Texans are under taxed. His thinking is more aligned with his Council on Foreign Relations ( he brags about his membership) buddies than his own constituency. What is the speaker thinking?

written by LibertyRepublican , July 03, 2008 Well I don't know if Rep. Branch actually thinks of himself as an elitist. I have heard him state that Texans are undertaxed in a club meeting. His CFR membership is stated in his House bio.

written by lee , July 03, 2008 At least he is not bragging about a surplus, like former representative Keffer. We may have a surplus, but our state parks are in dismal shape and closing due to lack of funding, our highways are going downhill fast and Texas is near the top in the number of uninsured indigent children. In that situation a surplus is nothing to brag about. Maybe Branch is on to something.
