Perot: He's baaaack, with the Charts PDF Print E-mail
by Carolyn Barta    Tue, Jun 17, 2008, 10:30 PM

perot.bmpRoss Perot, Dallas business leader and former presidential candidate, is back in the political fray with the launch of PerotCharts.com, a Web site containing information about America's  economic crisis. Perot calls on people to inform themselves about governmental spending, saying:  “The U.S. national debt reached $9.4 TRILLION on April 30, and it is increasing by more than $1 billion every day. We are leaving our children and grandchildren with debt they cannot possibly pay.”

PerotCharts.com contains a video featuring Perot discussing the Web site, a narrated chart presentation explaining the economic problems our country faces, and a blog where new charts and other info are posted daily for study and comment. Most of the data is gathered from official governmental sources, and the Web site is not affiliated with any political party or candidate. The issues are similar to those raised by Perot when he ran as an independent and Reform Party candidate for president in 1992 and 1996 but reflect the current economic situation.

I find myself wondering where we would be today had Ross Perot been elected Presedident in 1992. Would we have a $9.4 trillion dollar debt as a result of runaway federal spending? Would we see multi-billion dollar trade deficits and the destruction of our manufacturing base? Would we see the destruction of our culture and heritage through unchecked immigation? i don't know, but with 20/20 hindsight, it's clear Ross Perot was right about a lot of issues.

I've been asking people lately if we are finally experiencing the "loud sucking sound" Perot talked about.
