They are proposing boycotts of cable news channels, including CNN and MSNBC (ironically, Fox News isn’t on the boycott list), promoting video on a “Media Hall of Shame,” starting a nationwide conversation about sexism and nagging Senator Barack Obama, Mrs. Clinton’s rival, to address the topic. But, according to the New York Times, “many in the news media - with a few exceptions, including Katie Couric, the anchor of the ‘CBS Evening News’ see little need for reconsidering their coverage or changing their approach going forward. Rather, they say, as the Clinton campaign fell behind, it exploited a few glaring examples of sexist coverage to whip up a backlash and to try to create momentum for Mrs. Clinton.” Yet, many in the news media say that sexist episodes had minimal effect on the outcome of the primaries. Instead, they blame Mrs. Clinton for running a flawed campaign, which ultimately led to her defeat. written by Holy Roller , June 13, 2008 How is the media sexist when it gave Clinton the spotlight from start to finish and considered her the front runner until Obama surpassed her in delegate numbers? They practically annoited her the nominee before it was even started.

written by John Loza , June 13, 2008 Tom, I read the article in the Times today, so I have a question. Why did you change the word "pushing"(used in the article) to the word "nagging"(presumably your word)? This is a great example of what many Clinton supporters are so upset about. There is a double standard at work here. Men are tough, women are "shrill"; men pressure, women "nag". Yes, there was sexism in the way that Hillary Clinton was covered. It isn't the main reason why she lost, but it does merit discussion. Write comment

Many feminist women and die-hard Clinton supporters are enraged by what they consider sexist news coverage of Senator Hillary Clinton’s bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.
