Tim Russert, moderator of NBC's Meet the Press and a mainstay on MSNBC's political coverage during the primary season, has died of a heart attack, MSNBC and Fox Cable News are both reporting. Russert was one of the most well known and respected of Washington political journalists and a sought-after debate moderator.
Russert joined NBC News in 1984 and took over the helm of "Meet the Press" in December 1991. Since then, MTP has become the most watched Sunday morning interview program in America and the most quoted news program in the world. Washingtonian Magazine dubbed Russert the best and most influential journalist in Washington, D. C. Politico.com says Russert fell ill at the network's Washington bureau, where he also was bureau chief.
I will miss his Sunday a.m.show very much. We all will miss his comments on the current political race. "There shall be wailing and knashing of teeth and many shall pass to the wayside".

RIP Tim.
We did however decide his heart attack was caused from the shock of R Kelly being acquitted.

I met Tim in Febuary at, of all the places, the National Republican Club. I really didn't talk to him but I listened a lot. He was talking to his great friend Britt Hume. That was the type of guy he was. If you have ever been to that club, you'd know he was so welcomed there. There are huge paintings of Ronald Reagan, a fireplace. Mary Bono was elated to see him.
Tim shook the hand of the guy in a flipper suit outside when the flameout Romney gave up.
It's just so sad.

Other than Jim Lehrer, my vote for most respected newsman would be Russert....even though he came from Democratic political roots, one could count on him to ask the tough questions of everyone and to continue to ask politicians a question until he either got an answer or the politician was exposed as refusing to answer. We will miss him.
