Valdez No Show at Tribute to Fallen Deputies PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Fri, May 16, 2008, 04:36 PM

lupe valdez.jpgYesterday, the Sheriff’s Association hosted a tribute to their fallen deputies at Founders Square. Organizers and observers were surprised that Sheriff Lupe Valdez was a no show at the ceremonies.

Rumors had it that she was out of town, attending a conference.

No surprise. She's been MIA since she took office.

What a sorry excuse for an elected official. Republicans, see what happens when you don't vote?

That is just crazy.

She has a knack for being out of town at inappropriate times.

Then she sends a representative. If she is out of town at a "conference." Which I doubt. Ths is very offensive.

Come on, dems, where's the whitewash this time????

Hey, have a heart. It is more fun spending taxpayer money out of town.....

Wow. So my question is why did the Dallas Sheriffs Assn schedule this event during the week-long annual State Sherrif's Association Conference that was held in Austin? Seems to me people like those commenting on this blog are just looking for ways to attack Lupe.

She has done a great job as Sheriff, and anyone with half a brain knows that. But anyway, she'll win in November, regardless of what the County GOP throws at her. Democrats now rule in Dallas County, and so does Lupe; get used to it.

Those in law enforcement and everyobe who has examined the SO know that she's been a disaster..but then they probably only have half a brain...

If she gets reelected, it will only confirm what I've known for some time - competency doesn't guarantee success in politics.

Chuck Vinson,

The Association did not "schedule this. It was a Departmental event. An event put in place by JFK in the early 60's. The week of May 15th is Police week EVERY YEAR. The 15th is the actual day set aside by JFK in the "SIXTIES" as National Police Memorial Day! We did not "schedule" it to make her look bad! SHE chose not to return to Dallas in time for the event even thought she was urged several times to attend! Check things out before you start trying to point fingers.

Yes, anyone who believes she has done a good job has only half a brain.

Whether she wins in November depends solely and exclusively on those Republicans who have failed to vote the last two cycles. It is they who decide whether she comes back or not.
