Dewhurst Makes Appointments to Sporting Goods Panel PDF Print E-mail

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst announced four appointments to an interim committee examining the current practice of dedicating the sales tax on sporting goods to fund the state parks. The task force was created by House Bill 12. Dewhurst appointed Sens. Kip Averitt (R-Waco), Steve Ogden (R-College Station), Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa (D-McAllen), and Tommy Williams (R-The Woodlands) to the panel. Dewhurst was under fire from some newspapers recently for the delay in making the appointments.
