In the race for President in Texas, John McCain leads Barack Obama 48 to 43 percent and Hillary Clinton 49 to 43 percent . The problem for Dems is that one-third of those who say they back either candidate for the nomination also say they would not vote for the other one. John McCain has a higher approval rating, at 58 percent, compared to Obama at 51 and Clinton at 45 percent. Still, all of these numbers lead Democrats to believe that Texas will get resources to make this election year competitive, which could help down-ballot candidates.

written by Lee , May 06, 2008 There may be justice in the world if there is really retribution for the disaster of George Bush. Cornym has been an key supporter and deserves to go down for his blind support. He and lots of other enablers must bear responsibility and take their lumps.

written by Steven , May 06, 2008 I agree whole-heartedly. It's time to take out Cornyn. He's been one of the leading water carrier's for Bush's failed policies.

written by David W. Gilbreath , May 06, 2008 John Cornyn has served Texas well. I suppose that you would like to have an Ted Kennedy wannbe who drinks too much and drowns passengers in their car.

written by ElHombre , May 06, 2008 It looks like Cornyn may be another well-deserved victim of GFS. Not that ridding the gov't of his useless butt will be easy. IIRC, Cornyn has some $8 million for his campaign against Noriega's $300,000. Nonetheless, I shall enjoy watching conservatives twist themselves into rhetorical knots trying to defend a Bush enabler. Texas Democrats are basking in the latest state polls from Rasmussen that suggest Sen. John Cornyn is vulnerable and Democrats could be competitive statewide this fall. The latest
finds Republican incumbent Cornyn leading Democratic state legislator Rick Noriega by only four percentage points, 47 to 43 percent. An incumbent who polls below 50 percent is usually considered vulnerable, and Rasmussen says it's time to add Cornyn to the "potentially vulnerable Republican incumbents" list.
