Obama also is criticizing Clinton for saying she would "obliterate" Iran if it were to attack Israel with nuclear weapons. While she has stopped using the word uttered two weeks ago, the comment brings to mind John McCain's singing of "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." Obama says a candidate for president shouldn't be "stirring up international incidents." Here's the NY Times story, posted this a.m., and the Washington Post story on their "dueling appeals on taxes."

written by Holy Roller , May 05, 2008 Ok I drive an SUV that holds 16 gallons and gets 13 mpg. So I have to fill up the tank probably 5 or 6 times a month now. So, that's lets say 80 gallons. An 18 cent a gallon holiday would save me a whopping $14.40 a month. That'll get me 2 extra meals at Mickey D's. So yes, the tax holiday is a joke. The real issues need to be looked at- such as more refining, more US supply, alternative fuels, and mass transportation. Write comment

An issue taking center stage as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton furiously campaign before Tuesday's primaries is the gasoline tax. Clinton has proposed suspending the 18-cents a gallon federal gas tax for the summer with the revenue made up by a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Obama has called the proposal a gimmick designed to pander to lower-income voters. He says economists have called the idea counter-productive.
