60 Minutes to Feature Dallas DA's Office PDF Print E-mail
by Carolyn Barta    Fri, May 2, 2008, 04:57 PM

CBS' 60 Minutes will feature a story Sunday on the Dallas district attorney officecraig watkins.bmp and why it has the highest number of exonerations of convicted criminals in the country.  Scott Pelley explains that new DA Craig Watkins is looking for prosecutorial misconduct in the past and his office has opened its files to the Innocence Project so that volunteers and law students can re-examine cases.  Pelley interviews a Dallas man who was locked up 27 years for a crime that DNA now shows he didn't commit.  Check out this preview on the CBS News Web site.

I dont know about you, but I can't wait for Republican hostess and professional Watkins-basher Sharon Boyd to weigh in on this.

Does the 60 Minutes reporter ask about his driving record or about his many wrecks with County-owned cars?

Thanks for letting us know. I was at the courthouse when he was freed and was "aching" for more information. An incredible story of injustice and hope.

I would feel better about the situation if Watkins was truly interested in justice and not in bashing Republicans

In light of the interview, the accidents, the record of exonerating innocent men seems of offend blog readers and Whites. I single out white folks since they are have been the most vocal of those having a problems with innocent men being released under District Attorney Watkins. Many African Americans privately wonder why so many white folks who cry for justice are crying foul over District Attorney Watkins straightening up what Bill Hill and Henry Wade refused to straighten up because of their administration wanted a conviction at all cost. Is this fair? Is is fair to send innocent men to prison, taking them from their families, children, communities? What Dallas County has witnessed is "a bomb in Gilead"! God has a raised a phrophet to bring about change in his due season. And now white folks are unhappy he is righting a wrong created by white folks.
