Gay Bishop Robinson Can’t Preach in England PDF Print E-mail
by Tom McGregor    Thu, May 1, 2008, 11:33 AM

Archbishop Lambeth Conference.jpgNew Hampshire Bishop Gene Robinson of the Episcopal Church has been told by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams not to preach or preside at Eucharist while he is in England, according to reports.

The Episcopal News Service reports that, “Robinson, the first openly gay priest to be elected bishop in the Anglican Communion is visiting the U.K. to promote his new book, “In the Eye of the Storm: Swept to the Center by God.”

Robet Piggot, a staunch supporter of Robinson, criticized Rowan Williams for failing to speak out against homophobia in the Anglican Communion. Piggot claimed that Williams had criticized the Episcopal Church for ordaining Robinson as a bishop in 2003.

Robinson is quoted by the Episcopal News Service as saying, “the rhetoric of all those who describe themselves as anti-gay certainly creates an atmosphere in which a person might contemplate violence would feel more justified.”

Rowan Williams didn’t invite Gene Robinson to attend this summer’s Lambeth Conference in Canterbury during the July 16 – August 3 once-a-decade gathering. Robinson vowed to attend the conference as an uninvited guest.

So let me get this straight. This church was founded on the basis of sin & infidelity & murder. Bishop Robinson seems like a really devout & peaceful clergyman. I don't know why people, especially Episcopals, get so worked up about this. And please don't give me that biblical crap either because the writers had God say a whole series of goofy stuff--most of which you don't follow anyway. Leave the man alone, hate & bigotry is ugly.

^First off, its "Episcopalians" not "Episcopals." Second, Robinson is divorced, and not married to a person with whom he is in a sexual relationship with. Regardless of the fact that this person is another man, he is unfit to be a leader in the church.

In fact, this is not hate or bigotry, it is the church attempting to protect the flock from the hurt that results when the faith and doctrine of the church is compromised from God's vision for us as whole, loved beings changed by His love, and turned into a worldly doctrine that simply affirms us no matter what humanly shortcomings we have.

DallasMan.

Sorry about the Episcopals business, I rarely proof read my messages. Okay second, I have no idea what you are talking about. Anyone that knows God's vision may have a mental disorder. It is, by definition, invisable. To say that you can water down something invisable as a process of faith, seems somewhat kooky.

Now before you get all bent out of shape for suggesting that you may have a screw loose, just come off your dogma a little bit & find a space for this kind & gentle priest.

I am a devout cafeteria cathlic. I simply disregard those teachings that don't make sense. I only read the portions of the bible that are relevant & make me feel good. I think if you did that, you would still rely on your cultural biases to hate gay people. Small confession--I did just that well into my 20's. For me, it was true freedom, to be free from hate.

Grr: If there is hate involved it must be for the sin – not for gay people. Hate could also be directed toward the scandal. God's judgment against homosexual behavior is quite clear. Scripture says to avoid unrepentent sinners like the plague for fear that their example could corrupt others.
If you are free from hate, how can you avoid sin?

Ok now wait a minute, yall are beating this guy up, as well as the religon that I belong to, are beating this man up, just because he has found someone in which he can be happy with, sex not withstanding. And one of you said that the church is just protecting the flock, well that just dont jive either.

And the reason I say that is this, how many cath. priests have been delt with because HE the priest put HIS hand down little tommy or little billys, pants. Is that who should pe protecting the flock. I say let the man be, he has apperantly found happines with someone else and I think that yall are just mad cause yall aren't happy.

Peace out
