Seven young German artists from Berlin are trying to break new ground in the art world. They are living inside an Israeli art museum for three weeks with head lice in their hair.

Reuters a news-wire service, quotes the chief curator of the Museum of Bat Yam near Tel Aviv, Milana Gitzin-Adiram, as saying, “art is no longer just a painting on the wall. Art is life, life is art.”

The artists are sleeping, eating and bathing in the gallery in full-views of the museum’s visitors. Ms. Gitzin-Adiram claims that lice are more inspirational for art than the Bible or the philosophy of Jacques Derrida.

Fortunately, the artists are trying to stop the spread of head lice by wearing shower caps. Vincent Grunwald, 23, one of the exhibitionists with lice in his hair, admits that he feels uncomfortable, but he will suffer for this art form so that people all over the world will get a better understanding of the “concept of the parasite.”
