Perry Appoints Deirdre Delisi to Texas Transportation Commission PDF Print E-mail
by Will Lutz    Wed, Apr 30, 2008, 02:42 PM
Governor Rick Perry today appointed Deirdre Delisi of Austin to replace Hope Andrade as chair of the Texas Transportation Commission, which oversees the Texas Department of Transportation. He also appointed William Meadows of Fort Worth to replace the late Commissioner Ric Williamson. Their terms expire Feb. 1, 2013. Said Perry: "I am confident their contribution to the commission will maintain the momentum of the late Commissioner Ric Williamson’s pioneering vision, and secure comprehensive transportation solutions that will reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and keep our state’s doors open to economic growth and success."

Delisi served as chief of staff and deupty chief of staff to Perry, and was policy advisor to the presidential campaigns of Lamar Alexander and George W. Bush. She also served at the Texas Department of Commerce and as legislative aide for Texas Sen. Bill Ratliff.

Meadows chairs Hub International Rigg, and is vice chairman of the North Texas Tollway Authority. He is a past appointee to the Texas Water Development Board and formerly served as city council member and mayor pro-tempore in Fort Worth.

What is her experience with roads? Simply driving on one isn't a basis for this job.
