An unidentified college student at Oxford College, a satellite campus of Emory University, claims he helped kidnap a zebra and placed it in a campus building as a prank. But the zebra’s owner expressed outrage over the incident.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Curtis Jackson, who lives across the street from the Newton County campus, said Thursday, he planned to press theft charges against those who kidnapped his zebra, walked it a mile down the road and locked it on the third floor. Campus security discovered the animal unharmed at 7 a.m. Wednesday and animal control workers returned it home.”

Jackson owns two zebras, two dogs, a parrot and a donkey on his 53-acres property. The kidnapped zebra weighed 800 pounds and named Barcode. The zebra was not hurt in the incident.

An anonymous student e-mailed details of his involvement in the crime to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The kidnapper nicknamed himself, John Emory.
