According to CNN News, “in a letter written by a group Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, or MEND, the group said they attacked two pipelines they believed are owned by Chevron Corp. and Shell Oil.” Currently, Carter is in the MEND wants Jimmy Cater to mediate their disputes with the Nigerian government and oil companies. MEND’s letter also informed Carter that they prefer to be known as, “freedom fighters,” not terrorists. To read the entire article from CNN News, link here:
