Fox News reports that, “the article by Dr. Jerald Block, said there were four symptoms: suffering from feelings of withdrawal when a computer cannot be accessed; an increased need for better equipment; need for more time to use it; and experiencing the negative repercussions of their addictions.” Dr. Block noted that text-messaging isn’t directly linked to the Internet, but it was a form of instant messaging that needed to be included among the criteria. Dr. Block contends that many motor vehicle accidents are caused by the drivers using instant-messaging and stalkers exploit text-messaging and e-mails to send out a barrage of threats to harass their victims. written by Holy Roller , March 27, 2008 I laughed my ass off last night when FOX 4 had the story on the 9pm news about internet addiction. The reporter then said "for more information about internet addiction ***pause*** go to myfoxdfw.com". The pause was the WTF moment when she was directing internet addicts to get back onto the internet.

written by Eddie Allen , April 01, 2008 I fully expect that, due to my habitually intake of air on a daily basis, I will soon learn that I am suffering from Oxygen Addiction and that the pharmaceutical company that financed the university study that revealed this weakness has miraculously "discovered" and fortunately patented a new drug to treat this "condition". When will the psychiatric industry realize that simply naming more symptoms as diseases themselves will never hide the fact that they have never cured anything? Write comment

According to the American Journal of Psychiatry, people, who send too many text-messages and e-mails, may have a mental illness. People are becoming more dependent upon their computers at work and at home leading some to suffer from an Internet addiction.
