The Daily Telegraph of London reports that “he said he feared the film would prompt parents to buy the books, unaware that the third in the series, The Amber Spyglass, climaxes in an epic battle to “destroy God.” The Catholic League’s call for a boycott of ‘The Golden Compass,’ starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, has been taken up by a growing number of Catholic leaders. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia joined the boycott movement with a spokesman saying the film had “anti-religious themes” and Nonetheless, the Catholic League might bring unintended consequences by drawing interest to the movie. The organization called for a boycott of the film adaptation of ‘The Da Vinci Code’ but it became one of the highest-grossing movies of 2006, even though film critics gave it terrible reviews. written by Byron George , November 29, 2007 I've asked before and I'll ask again. Why are atheist afraid of a God that they don't believe exists? Why should they waste their time and money in court fighting against a God they say doesn't exist?
