The Miami Herald reports that “vice-squad officers arrested three of the paper’s advertising sales reps in a sting operation and secured an extraordinary racketeering indictment against the Weekly accusing it of knowingly profiting from prostitution.” The Orlando Weekly is calling the arrests an assault on the First Amendment, but the investigators say that they video-taped ‘Weekly’ employees selling ad space to undercover officers who openly claimed to be prostitutes. Paul Zambouros, the commander of the vice and organized crime section at the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI), a task-force made up of Orlando-area police and sheriff’s department, announced that the investigation was easy to conduct because the “Weekly’ sales reps were aggressively selling ad spaces to self-proclaimed prostitutes. The Orlando Weekly has decried the arrests as retaliation for running stories critical of the MBI. written by Farinata X , November 18, 2007 Another minor crime in Florida posted by McGregor, complete with T&A photograph for augmented sleaze factor, as tabloidization of Dallas Blog continues.

written by Hal Thomas , November 19, 2007 I've always thought it funny how the Observer is full of Massage Studio advertisements and escort services. Everyone knows what they are. The Observer loves to find fault but the truth is they are finaced by brothels and call girls

written by Nathan , November 19, 2007 Personally I'd rather read a publication whose main source of revenue is hookers and tattoo parlors. You won't find the kind of honesty in reporting at 'D' or the DMN. If the Observer pisses off some dignitary, what is he or she going to do? Take the matter up with the Observer's advertisers? Ray Hunt and Harlan Crow: Listen, we don't appreciate what Jim Schutze is writing over at the Observer. We are going put pressure on you the advertiser so he will quit writing about us! Candy the Hooker: Baby, if you want to keep talking its gonna cost you 100 dollars for my time.

written by Farinata X , November 19, 2007 When do you plan to "bring humor and excitement" to Dallas Blog? All you've brought so far is sleaze and irrelevant garbage. And the idea that this adolescent crud-slinging constitutes some kind of courageous rebellion against "political correctness" is just a joke. You're an embarrassment, McGregor. Pauken and the other owners of this blog ought to be ashamed of themselves for promoting this tabloid swill.

written by CV , November 19, 2007 I'm not embarrassed by you McG. I think maybe Farinata X could avail herself of some recreation to ease her stress.

written by John B , November 19, 2007 Is that a joke? I'm thinking Ms. X is Mr. McGregor's schizophrenic alter ego, ala "A Beautiful Mind." How can people who read blogs think so far behind the times??

written by randye , November 19, 2007 Maybe so B., until today I wondered if McGregor wasn't Paulken trolling his own site.

written by Farinata X , November 19, 2007 "But in her email address, she describes herself as Satan. I guess she is implying that because she disagrees with me than I'm not doing the 'devil's work.'" Nonsense. It's a literary reference any educated person could be expected to recognize. But enough about me.

written by Brad , November 20, 2007 This story definitely deserves to be published. It may seem sleazy, but such a sting could actually happen at the Observer, where a large percentage of their ad revenue comes from advertising promoting adult services. I hate to say it, but if this were to happen to The DO, there would no longer be a print edition. They simply would not be able to afford to keep it in operations. Good eye Tom ; ) Write comment

The Orlando Weekly, an alternative newspaper similar to the Dallas Observer, had the back pages filled with ads for sultry coeds, naughty nurses and girls with come-hither names like “Rush” and “Roxie.” But their escort-service advertising came to a halt last month.
