The Financial Times reports that “two fellow Republican commissioners yesterday broke ranks to question the ‘trustworthiness’ and ‘truthfulness’ of data being used by Mr. Martin to argue in favor of increased oversight of the industry.” Mr. Martin is a relentless critic of Time Warner and Comcast. He said that the data in question has indicated that the cable industry had reached the 70 percent concentration threshold that allows the FCC to heavily regulate the sector under a rule established in 1984. Mr. Martin wants monthly cable rates to decrease. But some Republicans are skeptical about adopting tougher regulations against the industry. Commissioners Deborah Tate and Robert McDowell have expressed reservations about the data Mr. Martin was using. To read the entire article from the Financial Times, link here:
