While Carl Edwards was trying to clinch the Busch Series championship, current Busch champion Kevin Harvick was busy trying to win a race.
Harvick took the checkered flag at Saturday’s O’Reilly Challenge, breaking a tie with Mark Martin for career Busch Series wins at Texas Motor Speedway.

After running in the top five for the bulk of the race, Harvick took the lead from Greg Biffle on lap 166 of the 200-lap event when Biffle came to pit road under green with tire troubles.
Tony Stewart led 114 laps of the race, but a long pit stop to repair incidental damage left him with a damage car at the rear of the field.
After a series of adjustments throughout the race, Harvick said the last set of tires really worked well with his Chevrolet.
“The car was right when it needed to be right there at the end of the race,” said Harvick.

The win was Harvick’s 32nd in the Busch Series.
Second place finisher Kyle Busch was disappointed with his performance. An early pit stop went awry when his team prepared the wrong set of tires and had to make a late adjustment. The team only took two tires, and while Busch left pit road with the lead, he could only hold on to it for 10 laps before falling back.
“That’s four second place finishes this year; it’s pretty pathetic,” said Busch.
Harvick’s car owner Richard Childress said TMS is a good track for his drivers. In addition to Harvick’s four Busch wins, driver Jeff Burton became the first Nextel Cup driver to win multiple races at TMS in April. He first win was in a Jack Roush Ford at the inaugural TMS race. Clint Bowyer also has a win in the Craftsman Truck Series at last November’s Silverado 350k in a Morgan-Dollar Motorsports truck.
“He’s run great in the Cup car, and hopefully tomorrow will be the day to get that first Cup victory,” said Childress.
