Vote No! Radio Ad Begins Today PDF Print E-mail
by Sam Merten    Mon, Oct 22, 2007, 12:46 PM

vote_no.gifWith early voting starting today, Vote No! began its media blitz with a 60-second radio ad featuring Mayor Tom Leppert. The spot will air on WRR-FM, KLUV-FM, WBAP-AM and KRLD-AM during morning and evening drive times, with some daytime. The total buy is just under $100,000.

In the ad, Leppert says, “Right now, outside funding will pay more than 90 percent of road costs.”

The majority of this “outside funding” he is referring to is coming from the NTTA, which has not committed to anything.

Those pro-tollroad folks are a crafty bunch! You really gotta' love the new radio ad... say NO to new taxes. Talk about twisting the facts, man, by head hurts after listening to it.

By the way, here's the transcript:

----------------------------

Hi, this is Mayor Tom Leppert.

I want to take just a moment to talk to you about the Trinty.

The truth is the election is not just about a road, it’s about doing what’s right for Dallas.

And it’s about saying no to new taxes.

You see, right now outside funding will pay 90% of road costs. But if we change the road design or move it, that outside funding goes away, and Dallas taxpayers will be left to pay at least $500 million, and probably a lot more for a new road that doesn’t even help move more traffic.

The Trinity plan is a life-hanging project for Dallas, but it doesn’t have to be life-changing for Dallas taxpayers. Not when we have a fiscally responsible plan that gives us a great park and roads without a huge tax increase.

So, I hope you’ll join me in saying no. No to second guessing, no to further delays, and no to new taxes. By voting no in the Trinity election Tuesday, November 2.

The Vote No Profiteers would call a cat a dog to profit off Texas families.

Vote YES to save the Trinity...

and Vote NO to Prop. 12, which is carefully crafted to trick Texans to vote for $5 Billion of debt, future tax increases and toll roads paid for with our tax dollars (an unaccountable double tax).

Read about it and more profiteer tricks here:

Hmmm. It's tempting, but I just don't think I want to spend my taxes on a billion dollar road I don't want and then also pay to drive on it.*

*If I move out of Dallas or become a trucker.
