Dallas real estate icon Ebby Halliday and former Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall of Fame Inductee Rayfield Wright will be the recipients of the 2007 Lions Sight & Tissue Foundation's “Humanitarian Award” at a come-and-go reception on Thursday, October 18th from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Communities Foundation of Texas, Mabel Peters Caruth Center, 5500 Caruth Haven Lane at Central Expressway, Dallas, Texas 75225. The Humanitarian Award Presentation is scheduled for 6:30 P.M.
Ebby Halliday, now 96 years old, was a self starter in a man's world and began her own very successful ladies hat boutique, "Ebby's Hats" around 1940. From there she became legendary, building a now 60-year-old real estate empire which bears her name, significant enough within the multi-county area that the name and logo were changed to just "Ebby" within the last two years. The 2006 sales year saw sales of some $4.7 billion, the best in company history. Recipient of hundreds of awards for her community and philanthropic work, among others, Ebby has received the Yellow Rose of Texas Award, Texas Women's Hall of Fame, Texas Business Hall of Fame and the coveted Horatio Alger Award. Rayfield Wright was a 13-year-veteran of Individual tickets to the Reception are $50 each. Evening refreshments and beverages will be served and free parking will be available. Giving Plateaus are: Diamond Sponsors $10,000 and above; Platinum Sponsors $5,000; Gold Sponsors $2,500; Silver Sponsors $1,000; and Bronze Sponsors $500. Each category of giving allows that many Lions or guests to attend, at $50.00 each. Appropriate recognition will be given to Plateau Donors in the Reception Program. Any Gifts of $20,000 or more will be recognized with the name painted on the Eye Care Coach. No payments will be taken the night of the event. Reservations must be made in advance by sending checks, payable to: Lions Sight & Tissue Foundation and mailed to Lions Cabinet Treasurer John Landrum, 112 E. Franklin, Waxahachie, Texas 75165. Please include with your check a list of the guests who will be attending the Reception. The Reception will be the largest fund-raising effort, this year and each year, for the Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation and the Mobile Eye Care Coach for District 2-X1.
