Scouting Flower Mound (2-2, 1-0 in District 6-5A): The Jaquars have to overcome the dreaded “potential” label. They’ve got stars in receivers James Hanna and Chandler Koch. Hanna is committed to Oklahoma is a dynamic player who’s returned a punt for a touchdown. Koch is committed to Boise State. Junior quarterback Brandon Colquitt is height-challenged but does have a strong arm. He’s shown improvement since getting the starting job after last year’s sophomore starter Jacob Morris transferred to Coppell. On defense, there’s another dynamic athlete in defensive back Collin Ashley, a standout baseball player who has a knack to make big plays.

Scouting Hebron (3-1, 1-0): The Hawks have surpassed the “potential” label they carried in their early years. They’ve proven they can do it and there’s talent to make another strong playoff run this season. Senior QB Tanner Marsh showed a lot of promise this summer and has blossomed since he overcame a first-game disciplinary action that cost Marsh part of the game. Marsh is a strong 6-3 passer with lots of options. Marsh has completed 80 of 132 passes for 1,101 yards and six touchdowns. He has one interception.

Hebron has five receivers with more than 100 yards in catches. Phillip Mitchell leads the way with 383 yards and three touchdowns on 25 receptions. The Hawks others receivers are Matthew Leatherwood (15 catches, 213 yards, 2 TDs), David Crawford (12-137), Alex Norman (6-137) and Patrick Robertson (8-105).
Fireplug senior running back Darius Staten 390 on 51 carries with four touchdowns. He has also caught 12 passes for 101 yards.
