Indoctrinate U.: The Movie PDF Print E-mail
by Caroline Walker    Wed, Sep 19, 2007, 03:45 PM

Bucknell alum Evan Maloney writes here about his travails while making a documentary about the leftist bent prevalent on most American college campuses.

"I looked into case after case of students and professors having their free speech and free thought rights suppressed when they failed to adhere to the campus political orthodoxy," Maloney writes. "The horror stories were so numerous that the toughest task in producing the film was figuring out what not to include -- otherwise, I could have ended up making a 100-hour film."

Maloney rips his alma mater Bucknell, recording how the administration stonewalled him at every turn as he investigated charges that the university routinely allows some of its offices -- notably the Women's Resource Center and the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness -- to use school resources in order to promote their political agendas.

"Those are legitimate questions for an alumnus to ask," Maloney says. "After all, when dinner is interrupted by a solicitation call from a Bucknell fundraiser asking me to fork over some of what little remains after the government is done gnawing at the carcass of my income, I feel that I have a right to ensure that the school isn't wasting money entrusted to it by parents, students and alumni."

Maloney's opus, "Indoctrinate U.", premieres Friday, September 28 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The Smithsonian might be the better venue, though, where it might also serve as the lone exhibit under the category "conservative documentaries."
