Leppert Urges Citizen to Wrap it Up PDF Print E-mail
by Sam Merten    Thu, Sep 13, 2007, 11:21 AM

head_crush.pngAs promised, here is the footage of Mayor Tom Leppert pressing his index finger and thumb together repeatedly to get a citizen to stop talking. As I reported Wednesday, 23 citizens were signed up to speak about verified response and their time was cut from three minutes to one minute by Leppert, although he did make an exception for one individual who played a video instead of speaking.

Once the speakers got close to their one minute, Leppert pestered them to wrap up their comments with this gesture. For those of you familiar with the show “Kids in the Hall,” it looked like Leppert was trying to crush their heads.

I apologize for the shotty video.

The Iron Fist comes down again!

By the way, the word you want is "shoddy," not "shotty."

Oh, I can't wait for the Lupe Valdez award ceremony for lame do-nothing Dallas politicians. Leppert's speech will go something like this: "Thank you for this award. As you know we have a weak mayor system. Combined with my own profound weakness, the office of Dallas mayor has never realized itself so proudly. Weakness combined with weakness is the theme of my administration and Lupe, thank so much for the inspiration. As the first non-gay mayor elected to this weak office, blah, blah, blah." What have we done?

Thanks, Farinata X. My apologies for my shoddy spelling of the word shoddy.
