Former Coppell and USC running back Emmanuel Moody said he'll transfer to defending national champion Florida. Moody, who was getting lost on the USC depth chart after an injury, announced two weeks ago that'd he was leaving USC.
"I just felt like Florida had everything I wanted with the coaching staff, the atmosphere and the players," Moody told GatorBait.net. "Coach (Urban) Meyer seems like an honest and trustworthy guy. He showed a real interest in me."
Moody decided on Florida over North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma State. H will have to redshirt this year before becoming eligible.
"I'm pressed for time so I didn't have the luxury of taking all the visits," said Moody. "When I was at Florida I felt really good about it for the reasons I said – the coaching staff is great, the atmosphere of the school and the campus and the family atmosphere around the team.
As a freshman at Southern Cal last season, Moody totaled 459 yards and two touchdowns on 79 carries. He also caught three passes for 39 yards. Now he'll have a year away from the gridiron while he sits out the 2007 season due to transfer rules.
"My plan is to be there Tuesday or Wednesday," Moody said. "Right now we're trying to go through the paperwork of enrolling. I'm looking at the positives of sitting out the year. I can still practice and I can use it to learn the offense."
Last season The Sporting News named him Pac-10 offensive freshman of the year.
And he wanted to be the FEATURE back. Good luck with that "Manny". He'd have gotten more carries at USC than he's going to get at Gator U. One reason for his transfer was he wanted to be closer to home. According to MapQuest USC is 1434.82 miles and 20 hours, 37 minutes from Coppell while UFla. is 1003.27 miles and 15 hours, 31 minutes from Coppell. So he is 431.55 and 5 hours closer for his family. My guess is he won't ever see the field as a Gator and he will finish his career at that football powerhouse known as Southeastern Oklahoma State University. No offense intended towards SOSU.
