DBAT 18's loaded lineup looked as good on the field as its lineup on paper as it rolled to a 9-0 victory over the Patriots 18 at Jesuit on Saturday afternoon to win the Connie Mack State tourney. DBAT advances to the South Plains Regional at TCU next weekend. the host Dallas Mustangs 18s also will be in the field. Other qualifiers still are playing Saturday afternoon.
DBAT 18's batting first five hitters: Chris Slater (Baylor), Joe Leftridge (Navarro), Cameron Rupp (Texas), Nick Fleece (A&M) and Lance Marvel (Texarkana). All terrific players that seem ready to make a strong run for Farmington, N.M. Many 17U teams have been hoping the DBAT 18s would be complacent down the stretch for the Connie Mack World Series _ with college plans already set. Doesn't look that way. DBAT also got a terrific showing from starter Bobby Bundy of Sperry, Okla.
Patriots 16U roll
Dallas Patriots blasted their way through the Mickey Mantle State Tournament at Jesuit and showed deep pitching in going undefeated in the Mickey Mantle State Tournament. Patriots beat Lake Highlands, consisting largely of 15Us, in the final Saturday.
The Patriots were led through the tourney by Jacob West (Denton Guyer), Jake Bolton (Allen), Eric Pruitt (Naaman), Spencer Fidel (Naaman), Jacob Jacquess (Irving MacArthur) and Clayton Jones (Rockwall Christian.)
